I went through something close to this.
A girl who was a close friend and started dating when we where 16, and stayed together till we where 20. It ended weird and there was a lot of unsettled stuff between us, but we stayed friends because we where friends before we dated. But over the next two years we each personally went through a lot of personal and emotional stuff, and we helped each other with those problems, but no matter what happened we could never go back to the place of being in a relationship. She did ask me to go to her wedding, but I decided not to go. Two weeks later she came to my house and she told me was was moving with her husband out of state and wanted to say goodbye. We talked for a long time and she asked why I didn’t come to the wedding. I told her “because I never want to remember seeing you walk down the isle to anyone but me.” She started crying and we hugged, I walked her to the car and waved as she drove away. And that was it..

i think in the first vid. it has a deep message. they had a relationship but he was chasing the rap game and got caught up and didn't have time for her so they called it quits. she found someone else yea he still loved her and wanted to see her happy and regretted things but still he knew the rap game was important to him also . he learned to late how important she was to him but he still wanted to be supportive and want to show her that. I think he needed closure and wanted to be there for her cause he wasn't before . takes a lot to do that kinda thing even though friends and others will probably think your nuts and make fun of you and not understand. takes a lot to do the right thing in your heart even though you might get laughed at and feel embarrassed . sometimes you will do that for someone you care for deeply. think of your friends in life wasn't it nice to have friends that had that kinda courage to support you even though they would get made fun of by others. like i said sometimes you HAVE to do what is right in your heart and nothing else matters now thats love . It really wasn't about being there for your ex' wedding. It was about Dicky's relationship with 'Molly', and how he gave it up to chase his rap career. The thing about the relationship is that it wasn't just about them dating and all the shit that comes with it, they were also best friends. The way 'Molly' was presented by the music video and the lyrics is that she's a very good friend of Dicky's, and was also very supportive of him - probably with his rap career too.
Honestly man, not all relationships end badly. Some come out of it as friends, focusing on the good times that they'd done together instead of the bad.
Dicky wasn't there for his ex. He was there for his friend, that was his ex that he still deeply loves. And watching her with another man in front of the altar, he starts to doubt whether letting her go to chase his "dumb dream" was even worth it now that he knows she won't be waiting for him and he's truly lost her.

I had never seen anything quite like the Lion King song but that's what makes Dicky so great. He's a really solid rapper in terms of all the normal criteria, but he's so different to other rappers, you really get something unique with him.
