I've never used a straight razor because they seem so much stiffer and less effective than safety razors, but I might give a Japanese razor a go. It seemed to cut through the hair much easier.
Feather blades are fantastic, sharp but still smooth. Only drawback is their price.
Straight razors are just as effective as anything else. However, in this video, the straight razor he used was not sharp, you could easily see how it was not cutting well.

When I was shaving at the barber shop, he used a gel (another type) because it was faster and perhaps less expensive than cream, but I did not enjoy it at the time, and after I shave at home, I only used soap and cream, as you can control the temperature of the leather in addition to knowing The parts that have already shaved.

Man, though I can’t feel it, but it looked like the Japanese razor gave a bit of a smoother pass. Maybe the Spartacus needed a little honing.
Maybe but, from what i understand they sound different because of the thickness of metal. When he first starts shaving under his nose with the Spartacus you can you a loud ping. Which usually means that blade is very sharp. That kamisori razor is nice tho its definitely on my list.
