Y’all put in the time to do this so I’ll reciprocate the effort with a comment. First, the onside kick I believe is to get it on tape. Not only letting other teams know that we are capable of doing it but it’ll make you stay honest when opponent lines up on kick off return. Also, potentially stacking the front line allows our guys to get down field on normal kicks. Simply a mind game for opponents return team. Second, the point of offensive minded HC’s going to get defensive players I believe is that being a high powered shootout offense doesn’t mean you can win the big ones especially when you play an opponent where the defense shuts down or slows down the offense completely. Look at 2022 for the Vols against UGA and USC. And 2023 against FL, Alabama, Georgia, and Missouri. As soon as the Vols couldn’t play the shootout game it was downhill fast because lack of defense and depth. Look at the Bama’s and UGA depth on defensive side of ball, stacked. Third, why aren’t coaches lining up to take or want the LSU job? Why is there an issue to bring in top candidates there? Ed was a shot in the dark while Brian is a guy that yes can win but never win the big one(at Notre Dame) and not a for at LSU… Last but not least, let’s hope the Gators hold on to Napier for a few more years…lol Sorry for the long comment but love what you guys are doing. Keep it rolling and this was a great episode. GBO!!! 🍊 🧡
I agree. Tennessee needed way more depth on defense and they still do in the secondary. I’m not sure why LSU can’t fork out cash and throw it a a top guy - not a mid level guy like Brian. Any coach I believe has unlimited resources there. It may be like Florida and nobody wants to go somewhere a Natty is expected. They can great for a smaller school and not have to worry about really competing for one. I mean James Franklin would’ve made the playoff every year if it was a 12 team playoff 😂 they seem to be fine with him finishing 10-2 every year and a top 12 finish. Programs in the SEC want to compete for Natty’s.

@@mitchellwebb22 great question. No clue since you’ll have Florida looking too. I was going to add Arkansas to that list of coaching searches but Sam Pittman found a way to beat Auburn. Also, you’re looking at an Arkansas team that is 3-1 with only loss on the road at Oklahoma State in an out of conference game. Looking forward to this week’s recap on Evolve. How about Malik Willis, former backup for the Titans not getting much of a chance in Nashville then comes in a handled business for the Packers against the titans?!?! Falcons get more than one chance to put the Kansas City Swifties away and can’t? Missouri having to escape Vandy at home?! Never thought we’d have to say that. Did we learn more about what Tennessee is or more about what Oklahoma isn’t? Michael Hawkins Jr. could be a real threat at QB for the Sooners! Didn’t talk enough shit about Georgia.
What do you have to say about Georgia?
