Emile Cairess has been training in Kenya with Renato Canova's group for the last 6 weeks in his build to a 60:01 half and hopefully a big PB in London.
This episode gives some insights to his training here in Kenya, we talk about his increased load and the mental sides of running a marathon
The workout: 10x1600m

This will go down as one of the all time great videos.
Thanks Jordan 🙏
Thank you so much for this content, it’s so inspiring to see the elites train.
The more and more I learn as an amateur runner, the more i realize how sublimely important volume is.
Canova don't miss in these videos, always a blast.
PS Thank you for the content as always
Sweet video! Emile’s progress has been nice to follow, what a stud.
this content is GOLDENNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN. GREAT TO see emile back !
great to see emile again
Yeah finally my favorite content again
Thanks for the footage
Great video, once again 💪
Angus this was fantastic!! Emile is such a likable and humble guy. I wish the best for him. Canova is so correct about training the mind. The work is the work, no secrets anymore
Appreciate the love as always James!! Love Canova's emphasis on the mental throughout his training and how there's so much more than just ticking off your sessions and miles
Thank you guys for the excellent video as always. I have few questions for the legendary Canova.
1. In a recent news on Italian newspaper after Kiptums sad death, he said he wasn't training in a modern scientific way. Considering his capability to maintain high volume workout, what would he changed of his training in order to make him better athlete and what( and if) he would change of Canova training routine suitable for him? What would be his best time on marathon once reached his best potential?
2. The method used for marathon is basically, beside high intensity on Tuesday and Thursday, long distance training at 105% of MTN pace. Is that suitable for amateurs or just elite athletes? I know he has promoted the method of something similar for amateurs such intervals of 500high intensity and 500rest at valuable fast recovery run and so on for a cicle increasing 100m of high intensity and decreasing of 100 m rest. Is that related?
3. If he would move the elite athletes training for amateur what would be the change during the week considering the average volume of 140 km per week and if he is still agreeing for a mini cicle rest every two or three weeks tapering?
well, done---excellent video
Excellent video
Renato Canova is a wise man period.
“… but you need to be a good driver!” Wise!!!👍
This was so good!!

Renato Canova i spokojna głowa 😁🖐️👍
Question for Coach Canova- In most of your training programs, there is a blend of variable stimuli throughout a periodized season tailored to the athlete. When working with someone who has hit a performance plateau, do you ever try to isolate a particular stress for a few weeks to help them achieve faster times? More generally, how do you help runners overcome particularly stubborn plateaus from the 5K-Marathon? Thank you!
Record video on running form🙏
I want to be able to run like them
Thanks for the great content. Is there a reason SE has stopped the long shots on the bike with just the sound of athletes running? I miss that old style but appreciate if this is more commercial.
Thanks for the feedback. Honestly, we're trying this format because we feel it ads a little more value to the video to have some commentary over the running. It allows Matt to weigh in on the session and provide some valuable information while keeping the videos around the 20min mark. We've tried to keep the running sounds in there still and haven't put music over it
@@angusteeton6918 personally i can't finish this because of the over production. the best thing about the old style was the simplicity - this is too much matt for me. good luck though
3:19 You will remain forever in our hearts legend Kelvin Kiptum ❤
As a fellow German, go Anamal 😎😎
what happened to moses mosop. You never hear what happens to these guys after a few years. They st a few records then disappear
What's the time of the year when athletes should work on the top end? Does Canova believes in the block periodization?
He uses fundamental, special and specific phases. Top end is incorporated via 6-10s hill sprints in the fundamental phase, as is the long run at approx 70% of race pace
I need to reed something about Renatto’s methodology, anybogy know if he wrote a book or something similar ?
Look on Google

Why Baby Police is training with Canova now?
Did he cut his own hair?!
300 + k a week is madness. Has to take its toll on body down the road
Hey sweat elite i apreciete very much what you do, I am subscribed for 2 years trust me, but please, i beg you , put also not marathon videos. I mean otside of the japan videos there is basicly no more mid distance stuff at all in last year or two. Please start again filming also some 1500 or 5km guys. It dosen't need necesarly to be someone super famous people, but there are tons of people last year who gone under 3:30 or 31 so i thinck you could pull out something cool. Or those diamond league races where there was 13 people gone unde13 mins per 5k. Mid distance is in a great spot righ now, not just the marathon, so it would be really nice if you could givie it a go once again.
P.S i realized this is not a marathon video. Its definetly a progress but what i sad, i thinck is still valid.
Hello! There are many workouts here of 5-10k runners but keep in mind, most track athletes haven't been doing all that much interested in training since the season is June-Sep and we're in February...
Sir when i do long reps my legs feel tightness what's the main reason i do proper warmup and maintenan good level of hydration is it is lactate produce or not please reply
It should be doms not lactate
You might be going to fast for the long reps slow it down if you don’t want your legs feel tight. For example mile repeats should be 45 to a minute slower then your fastest mile if pr. If not aerobically developed a little more then.
The first 10 km in Naples in 27.57 - a little fast for a result of 1.00.1
First 10k is net downhill, big downhill at mile 2. I think he paced it well, unlucky to not break 60
I agree the course is far from flat one, I did it Sunday and last 18/19th km is uphill for almost 1 km so this is certainly a performance under 60 minutes
Emile will do 59:47 for sure
This time has been reached by Biwott Bernard Kipkurui, in Napoli HM. Emile has done it in 60:01
Like Bordin 340km in a week with a long run of 55 km in progression

Got the drug’s perfect?! Can’t believe no one talks about the elephant in the room when talking performance
When you reach your natural potential it's time to start your ped cycle. It's not a sunday running club, these are pro runners.
@@nuno9733taking PEDs means you a weakling
Because it's a training video of a marathoner and commenters care about how he trains to reach his potential. I am sure there will be a lot of people talking drugs if you watch a drug video.
@@joeyzhao465 so let’s sell running to the kids, and when they are good enough tell them peds or else?!.. Yep, that’s the way..
