    The deathtouch attack against 3 creatures confused me. Has something changed in the rules?
    The 4 dmg of the deathtouch creature was split evenly between the 3 creatures blocking it. That seemed new to me.

      Sheoldred only need 1 point of damage to kill the creature since it has deathtouch

      @Ren-1979 9 місяців тому

      @@kennethjodansy6020 Hi, first of all thanks for the reply. I know the deathtouch part. What seems new is that the 4 dmg of sheoldred can be split. I always thought the 4 dmg would go to 1 creature and if that creature only had 3 toughness then 1 dmg would go to a second creature. But what happened is that the 4 dmg were spread 1+1+2 killing all 3 creatures.

      @@Ren-1979 as far as I know that's how deathtouch has worked for a long time now. What you're describing is how trample works, which I'm sure you're familiar with as well. But because it only takes 1 damage to kill each blocker, the DT attacker can take out as many blockers as it has points of power/damage. It's not so much that the damage is being "split", it's that after the first damage point the blocker is dead, so no more damage needs to be applied to it.

    Really nooby question as i don't really play MTG much (if at all) but at 10:15 how does that work?
    I understand "deathtouch" deals 1 dmg as thats lethal so it spreads the dmg to kill all 3 but im curious why sheoldred doesn't die after the 2nd battle due to only having 5 hitpoints and attacking into 4 + 3?

    Is anyone else interested in meta related videos about what individual cards are good in standard? Like best spot removal or best draw spells or best board wipes. Maybe even discussing best synergies to experiment with. Something that could help a new brewer understand the theory behind deck building so that more ppl are willing to experiment.

    • @danielsnyder6159
      @danielsnyder6159 9 місяців тому +6

      If you watch this channel just look at what cards he puts in his decks. He likes to stay relatively competitive and will mostly only use good cards unless he states otherwise. He had a video a long while back where he said he will use the deck creator and put all the most played “best” cards into it not to use as a deck but just to have a reference when building his decks. That’s why his decks never stray too far from the meta. So if you want to know the best removal or board wipes and whatnot, just look at what he’s using in 90% of his decks. Then you have to consider if the deck you are currently using can benefit from any niche cards that are only good in certain builds - for instance there might be a card that’s like 2 mana for 1 damage but if you control a wolf it does 5 damage instead…not a good card in general but probably AMAZING if you have a bunch of wolves in your deck.
      If you are very new to brewing, the best place to start is with the best decks. Play them, understand why everything works, then try to improve upon it (which will likely not work, but if it does you might be onto something) this will let you see why whatever you did can slightly or drastically mess up the entire deck. Most of the best decks have a “shell”. Shells are a core group of cards that make the deck tick - sometimes these are called “engines” but you hear that more when the shell is based around gaining a ton of value. Find the “shell” in various best decks and study them. Also look at what support cards are used to support the shells. Maybe you find that all the best decks have 3 or 4 sets of cards that make up the shell and then X support cards and X lands. Land counts will shift depending upon the type of deck and support cards will increase or decrease depending on how many slots are left after the shell and lands are in place. Now try to build a good shell or engine based around 3-4 playsets of cards, determine what style of deck you’re making so you can decide your land count - control for instance usually will run 26-28 or even more lands while aggro can get away with 20-22 depending on the amount of colors. Now you have your shell and land count so you know you’ll need to pick X more support cards to fill the deck out. Find what it is you think you’ll need - removal, card draw, ramp etc. Finally you can check your color split and determine what type of lands you’ll be using. Then test it out, what worked well? Did the shell itself work well? If not you have to fix that first, without a good shell the deck will flop. If the shell worked well but the support or lands tripped you up, make adjustments to them but know that you have a good base in place and can make this deck work because the shell is solid.
      The hard part is restraint. It’s easy to start building your shell and then find 20+ cards that also work with it, but you’ll get off track quickly. Keep that shell tight, figure out exactly what is the most important thing your deck is gonna do and focus everything on that game plan. Most deck building goes badly when you start trying to get too cute and have 6-7 cards all competing for the important slots. The support cards are important too, keep the shell lean so you have plenty of room for support. I often find that I’ve built 3 separate decks and I’m trying to cram them all together rather than splitting them into 3 separate ideas and keeping each deck lean and efficient. Good luck, hope I said something that can help you out

I played with rakdos anvil vrann with the new artfact called Journal... it is insane.. journal with the greedy and the rakdos vampires it is too insane.. i loose only and really ONLY if the arena flood me... 23 lands.. and flood still is a problem.. i dont trust arena.. the deck already made 10 wins in a roll.. but when arena dont want you to win it makes you mulligan to 5... it is a fact... an those who tell it isnt... well... i just say... YOU DIDNT PLAY ENOUGH.. Arena sended me an e-mail saying that i play more than 93% of players... so... if you dont play like that dont tell me what arena makes or dont... cause you dont know... it reallys fix games to test the cards and players... thats why I dont put any money ont it.. magic is Great.. but Arena just sucks on the shuffler and match makers... fixed games.. rigged deck.. it is beautifull.. but do not work well... i love magic... hate Arena... Wizards should remake the shuffler codes.. and the match maker is better.... CGB know that it have been pretty worst in the past.. one year ago it would fix only matches with mirrors... they changed it.. i can see.. but the rigged shuffler is disgusting... when you dont start and have to mulligan you already know that the OP would play with Monored, monowhite, toxic or new mechannics with new collection cards.... see by yourself and try it if you dont believe it... sorry by my english... it is not my language

      I think it’s because these games were all streamed. He had a marathon when he got back from his trip. On his second channel he talked about playing the timeless format a day before the video for it was released on his main channel. That video did not have an intro either, and it was part of the stream.
      It could also be because standard has the new extended rotation. Since less cards are swapped out from decks due to lack of rotation, he could just avoid the deck tech since:
      A: 80% of it would be talking about cards that aren’t new,
      B: Most people who watch the videos unfortunately skip the intro anyway, and
      C: If he covers it while playing, people probably won’t skip it lol.
