That 96 team had a 38-3 home record, only bested by 39-2 superior Bulls. their 3 home losses came against Indiana, San Antonio and New York with a combined margin of 5 points. They never had a Losing streak longer than 2 games in a row. They were the only team to beat MJ and the Bulls 3 times between regular season and playoffs.
Seattle Supersonics has been my all-time favorite NBA team since 1993, and still hoping for an expansion rebuild in the near future.

I'm a Diehard SuperSonics fan. Love them even though I'm from Alabama. Never been to Seattle but I have followed Chris Hansen the billionaire. And I've read that Seattle and Vegas are set to be the 2 next NBA expansion franchises so i can't wait for that. I expect them to do it by 2025 or 2027. I read it's going to happen for sure , just a matter of when the NBA is going to do it. It has to do with TV rights and money ofc. Seattle already has the fan base and an arena, Chris Hansen also Said he'd put up the money for an arena. And as u know Vegas has the arena and money so it's just a matter of time.

I was in Seattle during this era. It was absolutely amazing. Everyone would watch EVERY game. And til this day, those games were some of the most exciting and fast paced games in history.
And when Seattle won Game 7 to go to the finals, everyone was running out in the streets and celebrating.
So many fond memories as a child living in Seattle during this time.

I’m in LA, and of course the ShowTime Lakers are some great basketball teams, but for my money those Seattle Supersonic teams are the most exciting and electrifying basketball teams I’ve ever watched in the NBA even to this day. Shawn Kemp and Gary Payton are the most exciting NBA duo ever. Magic made The ShowTime Lakers special, but I’m telling you, the way Shawn Kemp murdered the rim and opponents with Gary Payton throwing lobs was a site to behold. There’s a reason why The SuperSonics championship game vs the Bulls is the most watched NBA games EVER.

You MUST know this about me, to understand where, when and how I grew up: Born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Sonics and Blazers fan. Japanese-American. 1993-94 was a TOP three time in my life. 1995 was "bad." 1996-97 was another GREAT time in my life. So, when I look back at this Sonics era, I long for those happy days! My Dad unexpectedly passed away in 2003. Life hasn't been happy for me since. I have long thought that I'd live to be 48, and pass away in 2021. If I'm indeed in the final year or two of my life, these are memories I will cherish, during these final months of my life.

The way Kemp "talked trash" was not with words, he would dunk in your face and pose for you. I always loved this, because its a way of showing someone up but not causing a huge conflict like words do. Most players like you see in the video would give him respect for it and Kemp would give that respect back by not gloating. Always loved that about him.
Payton was the exact opposite, he was the best trash talker in history in my personal opinion. He could get into anyones head, and still play ball while talking the entire time.

12:50 The Sonics' general strategy throughout the series was to rotate different defenders on MJ every few minutes. Contrary to popular belief, GP was already included in the defensive rotation by Game 3, and directly caused more disruptions for MJ in that contest than on Father's Day when MJ did well against GP as opposed to the other Sonics. However, GP deserves significant credit for setting the defensive tone in Game 4, while MJ bounced back in Game 5 despite the loss.

90 Sonics missed the Offs in the last 8/10ths of the final second of the RS on a 20 fopt perimeter hookshot by Magic Johnson. Being a Lakerfan, I saw it and it even made me wince. That’s a tough way to get dumped from the 8th. Incidentally, ex Sonic Sedale Threatt did the same thing in 92 w/ a shot over flopping Doc Rivers to eliminate Houston from the 8th. Guy who took Earvin’s spot. That was a great year fer Sedale. He became one of my fave Lakers, but what’s weird is I’ve never seen him play as well as he did in LAL w/ Philly, Chi, Sea. He did have an excellent gm w/ Hou in his final NBA gm, which was the nite Stockton hit the series winning trey at HOU.

Are you in the sixth grade? Were you alive during those years? I’m not saying it was the right thing, certainly not in retrospect, but Karl was a playoff choker. Look at his time with Denver and Milwaukee - all those 50+ win, first place, first and second round knockouts. That was the management rationale letting him go. Wally Walker is the one who steered the franchise into a ditch and had immediately started making bad personnel adjustments after their Finals loss. But do a little research before criticizing.

and to the Nick Van Excel Bloody Divac Lakers in the first round the following year right asshat. The 94 team had a toxic locker room environment. And for the most part was a team still jelling. Mutombo in his prime, Robert Pack got hot, all of a sudden Brian Williams started playing like Rodman, LaPhonso Ellis had game and Reggie Williams had a few career games but really it was Ricky Pierce crying about GP not passing him the ball enough and Kendal Gil and his crybaby depression pampered athlete routine combined with having so many new parts that was there undong. Of course if you had enough intelligence you would understand that nothing is given in the NBA, you have to take your lumps along the way. They had a tough series against Sacramento in 96 in the first round also.

The Sonics pretty much had no bad players, too many to mention and a high rotation so they could all run their butts off. And Payton would do that 48 minutes per game because he never got tired.

He wasn't a good leader. He and Ricky Pierce feuded, threatened each other with guns, literally, when we were UP 2-0 against Denver in 1993-94! EVERY teammate has bashed Gary, after playing with him. It's one thing for Kendall Gill to whine about him, but when Hersey Hawkins, Nate McMillan and Sam Perkins complain about playing with Gary Payton, something is terribly wrong.

@@aaronjackson9385 I was born in 1973 in Seattle, to give a feel for when I grew up. We didn't have the internet quite yet in 1994, so a lot of this stuff (Gary Payton and Ricky Pierce threatening to pull guns on each other) didn't come out until years later. I knew back then that Ricky Pierce "had a few nasty confrontations with Gary Payton during 1993-94," but even I didn't know what degree it got to. Now, when the Sonics lost to the Lakers in the first round in 1994-95, that wasn't Gary's fault. Gary had a broken finger on his right hand, and his 8/19 on free-throws proved that. It was George Karl's feuding with Kendall Gill, that sank us in 1994-95. However, come 1999, Gary Payton "made Rashard Lewis cry, during practice," with his trash talking.

Great team for business income during regular seasons, but quite a chokers on the playoffs events. Not to mentioned that in the 90'$ players became Millionaires and with that, a lot of renegade broken attitudes that keep them from discipline and Treating their bodies like true Professionalism.. only to lead them to night Clubbing with a wide caravans of stripper$, Roadie$ And goodie goodies Girl$$$ tagging among the tons of Champagne with Cocaine Circus Roadhouses$$$, on every City's or town that the scheduled droven to.. Abd that's was the way on the 90$... of course everything had changed since, along with the game to address all these issues of wild players gradually from the beginning of the New Millennium, to where is now. ( independently from the pandemic ) So the players are more active in clean image, athleticism , ,as well been more consistent and conscious with the status Qou. ( money and Gangster pimping attitudes)
Well even the NbA league voted in total agreement to leave Seattle with the OVER statement. Bye byeee After hours hangouts!!..
