indeed! while the intro is structurally & (except for bar 2) harmonically faithful to the original, the ending is slightly less faithful. for me, it made sense to base the intro & the ending on the break -- the part (in the original) where Teresa stops singing for a while. in the break, i changed only the melody; the structure & harmony remain intact.. thanks so much for your kind words! i agree, this love song -- like a second anthem -- will forever unite all Chinese people! .. all the best!!

Hello Gordon. Thank you for this video. I am trying to learn this piece to play to my mother who is 82 and very ill. She used to sing this in her youth. I hope I will be able to learn it in time for her. Your video inspires me even more to play this.

Wow, i don't think my arr. can be described more poetically than that! yes, there are some splashes of sound & some delicate cascading figurations..
