I got 64/97! A lot of the quote questions got me actually haha - I've focused so much on the lore that I definitely need to scrub up on the actual text in the stories. A few silly mistakes and misremembering of things in there too haha. However, why out of 97? There are three questions that are wrong in-themselves so I will not be counting them in the total: Question 2 is misleading in it's wording - Suddery is a City, not a Town as the question specifies. Question 15 - There is no "Official" open date for the NWR in any writings from Wilbert or Christopher - the Company was formed in 1914 and the line was completed in 1916. Operations seemingly begin in 1915, but you could argue that they started the moment the Company was formed if you follow that logic - I am being pedantic with this one, but only because there is never once a sentence that reads something like "The NWR officially opened in 1915, with the double tracking being completed in 1916". Being a government strategic Railway first - it does beg the question would it not officially "open" straight away upon amalgamation of the companies in 1914? I can't see passenger services being withdrawn along the TK&E or W&S lines for 2 years as the line was being double tracked. Question 83 is also a bit of an interesting one - I'd be very interested as to where you sourced the answer of 87 from? There is no written total mainline mileage of the NWR by Wilbert or Christopher - measuring the line with a piece of string on a map isn't a reliable source either, as when you measure the Mid-Sodor it comes out wrong compared to the 25 mile length stated by Wilbert meaning that the scaling is not 1:1. Question 6's answer is also wrong, it's 7 in total: 1. Toby, Trucks and Trouble 2. Thomas and the Twins 3. Thomas and the Great Railway Show 4. Thomas Comes Home 5. Henry and the Express 6. Thomas and Victoria 7. Thomas and His Friends Thoroughly enjoyable quiz!
I must say Luke, out all the people who commented, yours was the one I was most interested in. You are pretty much the Sodor Historian, I mean you are the one who looks after the creators Study and has had a hand in updating some of Wilbert’s Lecture notes. so seeing this score is impressive. Glad to know we are on the same level of knowledge on this island too.
Appreciate this Luke! Here were my reasonings for those ones: 2) Yes, Suddery claims to be a city - but I'm pretty sure it is only a claim (due to it being the former HQ of the Bishops of Suddery) - I don't know if it officially has been granted city-status by the monarchy within the canon. At least in the early 1900s, I think a settlement needed a population of 300,000 minimum to be classed as a city, which I doubt Suddery would have at the time of the RWS - there were some exceptions made based on cathedrals or heritage though, so I'm not gonna push that too hard. Also, there isn't really any other settlement at the mouth of the Maura, so I think that was the only possible answer even with the slightly ambiguous wording. 6) Yep, that was a genuine mistake. A couple of other people have picked up on that, my bad. 15) Very interesting. I compiled these questions a while ago (and over about a month) so I can't remember where I sourced that, but I do remember I was specifically trying to trick people into saying 1914, rather than 1915. If I have time later I might have a look at that one and get back to you, but you're almost certainly right as historian-in-chief. 83) Aight I admit I pulled that one straight from the wiki and fan estimates. Probably not the best sources on my part, forgive me :) Really glad you enjoyed it in any case, absolutely love your work.
@TheThomasCynic When it comes to Suddery, Wilbert is very definitive on it's city status due to it's cathedral - it doesn't claim to be one, it is the historical and current capital city of the Island. Regarding the question, given some of the accompanying images were chosen to be misleading (Bullseye picture making people think of Daisy instead of Sir Handel) I assumed it asking for a town was deliberately goading people into saying Suddery rather than the *closest* town to the mouth of the Maura. I think saying "Settlement" would solve the problem without giving away the answer haha. With the opening date question, I knew you weren't after 1914 as you said 'Officially opened' rather than 'formed' - it made me stop and think and then say 1916 as that's when the construction work was completed. I went digging afterwards and yeah, couldn't find any definitive opening date - which makes me think given the nature of the railway it never had one and just immediately started operations in 1914 upon formation to aid the war effort.

I knew some stuff in there that I pulled out of nowhere and it was so rewarding to get an answer correct. I have wanted something like this for a long time now. I’ve searched for trivia like this, but there was never one that was truly hard. This was a challenge, I had to count names of stations, count books, write out some of my thought process, search deep into my brain and much more to get some of these answers. Genuinely a really rewarding exam despite getting a solid D Thank you so much for this Exam it made my day. Also one more thing can you explain question 27 and 28 particularly 28 why wasn’t it 169 that’s how many stories with titles aren’t there?
Thanks for the lovely comment! For 28, it was the numbers in the titles of whole BOOKS, not individual stories. The THREE Railway Engines plus the FOUR Little Engines plus the EIGHT Famous Engines, which makes 15.
So far I got 3/23 correct. I think I'm gonna fail this big time. edit: just got to 39, didn't know that cuddle's name name means "Companion of God" Which mean Cuddle fell is Companion of God fell. edit 2: Just finished, I got an 12/100. That was hard.
Ah snap you're right, I swear I factchecked these but I missed "Henry and the Express" off my list somehow. Take +2 points and a heartfelt apology :) Knew this would happen at some point though, some people in this community are worryingly sharp.
@TheThomasCynic thanks. so i then got 50 and 1/2 the 1/2 is as i had 5 questions that wher so close that it was almost corect like a singel letter of or the engines number i added a 2 at the end. but i got over 1/2 now so thanks
I don’t understand Question 28. My maths is shit, despite me passing Functional Skills Maths Level 2 in April (allegedly). Surely it’s 1 + 2 etc until you get to 42 making 903, so how the hell is it 15 with 3 + 4 + 8? Please explain as it’ll drive me nuts otherwise

96. Daisy and Harold. (32)
99. N/A (33)
I thought I did Better and got 71, But I miss counted and I got a 67.
That was genuinely fun.
Boy did I misinterpret that question. XD
Q: what is Duck’s real name)
A: Montague
#74 honestly thought it was daisy
i got 40/100
I got 62/100
I GOT 48
13:02 isn’t that daisy?
It was a trick question, I wanted to catch people out with that. Definitely Sir Handel :)
34/100
So far I got 3/23 correct.
I think I'm gonna fail this big time.
edit: just got to 39,
didn't know that cuddle's name name means "Companion of God"
Which mean Cuddle fell is Companion of God fell.
edit 2: Just finished, I got an 12/100. That was hard.
I got 47/100. Guess I’m a fake fan :(
Got a score of 65
I got 48 out 100
I am thoroughly embarrassed
26/100
10/100 😢
professor Cynic I got a 31 out of 100 I failed your test.
question 6 is wrong
thers one extra but not saying number to be fair
Ah snap you're right, I swear I factchecked these but I missed "Henry and the Express" off my list somehow.
Take +2 points and a heartfelt apology :)
Knew this would happen at some point though, some people in this community are worryingly sharp.
Caught that myself, too.
@TheThomasCynic thanks. so i then got 50 and 1/2
the 1/2 is as i had 5 questions that wher so close that it was almost corect like a singel letter of or the engines number i added a 2 at the end.
but i got over 1/2 now so thanks
56/100
72/97
I don’t understand Question 28. My maths is shit, despite me passing Functional Skills Maths Level 2 in April (allegedly). Surely it’s 1 + 2 etc until you get to 42 making 903, so how the hell is it 15 with 3 + 4 + 8?
Please explain as it’ll drive me nuts otherwise
Apparently it's The THREE Railway Engines plus FOUR Little Engines plus The EIGHT Famous Engines which equals 15.
@
I get to now it’s Ben explained to me by other responses here. Typical maths type question, lacking clarity and obfuscation.
14:55 The actual answer to this one is "I do not speak English"
you can have the point for either of those
re: question 6 - shouldn't the answer be 7?
Toby, Trucks and Trouble
Henry and the Express
Thomas and the Twins
Thomas Comes Home
Thomas and the Great Railway Show
Thomas and Victoria
Thomas and His Friends
