    I've been struggling with getting my feet offset without totally messing up my aim and my last step, and that angled stick idea is perfect. Feet step along the angled line, disc travels back and forth on the throw line. I come from a ball golf background so of course I struggled with keeping everything parallel with my line, getting the disc stuck behind my body, not getting my feet offset. I just grabbed a tent pole from my garage as an angled line tool and I can already tell it's helping me tremendously.

      Yea dude, I figured this out pretty recently too, more so cuz my flexibility has improved from drills letting this be possible.
      What's also neat is you can actually use your reach back to aim your forward trajectory since the disc will be traveling along your reach back line, given your keeping it 90.

      I recorded simon & eagle and other pros and drew lines on their feet & knee positions on my phone. THen i went out and did the same on my form.
      After the mental breakdown I started fixing it in standstill for like 4 months and now after 9 months I throw 100 feet farther with two steps and "slow" form than I did before. Loopghost also has some really good stuff on this matter. Just pointing your knees together makes a stupidly big difference (In my certaintly not pro experience ofc)

    My next pay check I’m gonna pay for the lessons! I’ve been slowly realizing that in order for me to form good habits with my form I literally have to spend 1-2weeks focused on only one change in my form. Right now the form I have I can hit 270-300 depending consistently. Last week I was working on foot work and now this week I’m starting to focus on hitting my power pocket correctly and if I come across any lower during my sling forward the disc doesn’t go as far. I like how you mentioned you’ll break it down step by step so sounds like it’s right up my alley with working on one thing each week. My goal is to hit 500 consistently

    I enjoy your videos and have found some of your tips very helpful, but I'm not sure about this one.
    Part of the reason you step out/stagger your stance is so that you create space to pull the disc through the power pocket. If your feet/knees are perfectly aligned, I think you're more likely to round the disc which is detrimental to distance. The first image you show of Paul McBeth clearly demonstrates the opposite of what you're teaching in this video, his front foot is clearly not aligned with his back foot.
    Still appreciate the uploads though 👍

    bro... what the heck... I've been told to heel to toe stager when I throw since day one... I've always thought that that was a strange and unathletic stance but I kept doing it... it is so frustrating having inconsistent back hand... I don't know what to say but thank you again... tomorrow I'm gonna work on this diagonal stance throw... I'm excited

    Hah! Thats me. Legs are crazy open like I'm riding a horse! Your right about rushing the throw. I feel like I have to get rid of the disc before I even have the front foot down.
    Why do we do that? What makes me want to land with my foot so wide open? I go from back right to front left with every shot. I bet I'm way off my line of flight and it must force me to relaese real early to some how get back on line.

    So I’ve improved my accuracy and distance some as I’m learning your techniques. Still a long road ahead. Can’t wait to work with this as I’ve been in the heel/toe stance. My question…. I stopped the X-step & just standing still until I get better as I’m not throwing any farther using it. I’m more focused on basics. At what point should I add it back in to my throws & will it really make a huge difference? I’ve been down the UA-cam/disc golf rabbit hole and your videos are the first that I really understood clear & have actually made a difference in my game! Thanks!

    • @JazzInATinCan
      @JazzInATinCan Рік тому

      I have had long periods of stand-stills only for like 3-4 months. And it has helped tremendously. And now I almost only do like a single x-step to throw almost max distance. Having a proper runup gives me like ~10m (33ft) more distance 15% of the time.. so yeah, slow down is a really good idea.

    Have been working on form and only throwing standstill. I don’t do a walk up anymore because I am a lot more consistent and have more power at a standstill. I do not think I am ready to implement a walkup, however, how would you implement the walkup? What teaching would you do? I’m trying to wrap my mind around it as I get too analytical with this. Thank you for the videos!

    •  Рік тому

      Same for me. I was trying walk up from the beginning, but last months, I only do standstill. I feel more accurate. Also better focusing on engaging legs and hips. Now I'm trying only the last step... Maybe this could be the way?

    • @benharrison5816
      @benharrison5816 Рік тому +1

      I'd just start by taking one step (the last step). How do you get more power throwing any object? You step into the throw and follow through. Once you feel good with your timing taking one step, then move on to a slow x-step. I'm guilty of trying to x-step too early and throwing wild.

    Another important point about the magic position is that you can only get into it by driving off the back leg. If you jam your weight into your front leg your back leg will be straight, disengaged and act as an anchor which slows your rotation.

    Any tips on nose angle? I feel like I'm getting good snap on my throws now, I hear a snap and the disc seems to come out fast, but I can almost always see the stamp while the disc is flying so I think it's just absolutely killing my distance, because now only is it flying slower, but it stops my discs from turning over to get any type of s curve.

    This makes sense but now I’m struggling visualizing my run/walk up. If your “run up” is straight at the target, how do you put yourself at that angle all of a sudden. It seems like you’d want to start at the back right corner (for righty) and go at and angle but I’m pretty sure that’s wrong too. My brain hurts.

  • @JazzInATinCan
    @JazzInATinCan Рік тому

    I've heard som many people, teachers and pros say you runup stright towards your taget. But this is absolutely not that. I feel like for a 330ft shot its true for where I want my disc to LAND - but not for the actual line I'm hitting, since a straight shot is seldomly 100% straight, more like a little left-to-right movement and the som light fade. Even if it's just 2 meters of left/right it makes a difference for my line.
    What your opinion on this?
