I had a great time in person! Best part was feeling the movement. I remember being at 200ft at the start of my Slingshot journey and was tired of not progressing with other coaches. Now I am past 400, but most importantly my 300 feels so much easier and like I am not even trying. Since we filmed this video, been on a fitness grind as I realized I was lacking mobility for the athletic movement. If you are like me and were just stuck, do the Slingshot method with Coach.
Great job! Many people dont realise that being able to throw really far you need mobility and athletic speed from strenght training. Form can only do so much but its necessary if you want any consistency.
Finally, he said what I've been thinking about for a few weeks, after months of form research and work. "Using the body to throw your arm" I think that's the best way to explain this very technical kinetic chain of movements.
Yes, a stand still practice routine with no disc really got me used to how it feels. Once I was able to incorporate that with a slow x step in the field I knew I was on the right track. Another point I don't believe I've heard- keeping the arm semi rigid in the vertical plane and loose in the horizontal plane.
@slingshotdiscgolf1897 when you do look up the difference between horsepower and tourqe. I have a strong belief that you want to start with a dab of tourqe in your throw and end with horsepower. Just like a high reving engine. It's the transition that screwing with people and they never switch to horsepower, and stay in their tourqe.
@@billybuckner7762 Very interesting conceptualized analogy! Which may or may not be true. I think a more scientific physiological analysis of the throw mechanics is needed to really say with conviction what is actually happening to individual and groups of muscles throughout the entirety of the process. However, if? torque is more efficient in the short term and horsepower more in the long?? Is it then logical to think that a movement so fast and short lived would be mostly, if not all, torque?
Having just gone from "arming" to "slinging" in the last few weeks, with understanding and feeling the difference, I can say it changes everything. You'll likely have to tweak some other aspects as a result. Grip, reach back location, aiming points, and x step approach angles were most notable, for me.
Interesting to see someone's form change so quickly. Went from poor to good to poor to good to poor to good. Hope he grinds it out and gets that good to good connection.
Wow what a difference, you can tell the lower spine is much more stable and protected at the emd of session throws, less spinal twisting and more power.
This teacher is the best on UA-cam.
Wow i enjoyed watching the changes happen in real time. Props to the student for allowing this video to be shown
Thank you!

Nice work!
I am loving what I am learning from you brother. Thanks for this!
I appreciate you watching!
Perfect timing. Heading to the field in about an hour.

I should make a video on this specific topic

Nice video coach T 💯 Great to see someone who backs their words and advice with visual action. Looking good 👍🏻
Great video again coach T. Really like you showing an insight to what a lesson on drills looks like! Can’t wait to test it out!
This was a great lesson, learned a lot!
Loved the concept of throwing your arm.
Agree! Big mental cue for me

Coach SlingShot what do you can that red stick thing & where can I get one?
Is the disc golf backhand just a baseball batting swing?
Yes...It's just a much more complicated baseball swing with a mixture of basketball and Ice skating
