idk about drum circles (pun unintended) but he does from me, although i'm not a drummer. what i find amazing is how full of a sound he gets from a relatively minimal kit

But for me, it's about how they write for the music. Don't get me wrong, Matt Gartska is fugging beast, I just feel a certain uniqueness with Mingus. That's why he is best to me.
As a drummer, accenting the music is such an important element of what we do. The way Matt Chooses to accent his music is so cool! It’s very calculated, he has speed and precision. I think the way he links up with will swan is what makes the music stand out that much more. Will and Matt are the heartbeat of this band. If one of them were to ever leave it’s over.

TheDuffyMSGR64 my snare drum is positioned at a height to do the same thing. If it doesn’t hurt when I hit my leg then I know I’m not hitting hard enough. It’s sort of a “technique” for me I guess lol.
I've been wondering this for years but been too embarrassed to ask for fear of rude responses. But what are those ear things he was adjusting in the beginning? I assume it's to hear the rest of the other band? 🤷🏻♂️
