Yes you are right it is really difficult :( But with hard work I am sure you can achieve all your dreams! Shanghai is an AMAZING city! Good luck and thanks for watching :D
hi, great video, are you constantly surrounded by the language? because i heard that because there’s so many international students, there actually isn’t that much chinese to hear...
There are a lot of international students at Fudan, but you still are exposed to Chinese a lot. From everyday things like taking the metro, calling for a taxi, ordering food etc. etc. My Chinese tremendously improved just studying there for half a year. I also reccomened you to step our of our comfort zone and make friends with non international students. You pick up Chinese a lot faster that way.
hey! which building/kind of room would you recommend trying to stay in? and how long are your classes generally? thanks for your video! im thinking of studying in fudan next year
Hey! Im so excited for you Fudan is such a great school! I would reccomened to stay at the main international student dorm. You can either get a single room or a double room and dorm with someone. Each room comes with its own bathroom and on each floor there are two kitchen area and washing machines. The length of classes depends on the program that you are in. However, the teachers are really nice and offer breaks if the classes are on the longer side. Hope this helps!
@@lilliansmith9929 Did you get admitted into Fudan University this year? For 2022 intake I can help you, contact with me in whatsapp/wechat:+86 13567795256
Hey! Chinese was actually my first language (cantonese tho) but I guess I heard Mandarin here and there growing up. However, my Mandarin still really sucked and I was not able to hold a conversation. It wasn't until I studied abroad that I really focused on learning Mandarin. Fudan's program was great and my Mandarin improved so much! Thanks or watching :D
You're absolutely right. Fudan University is a really prestigious school in China. Since I was just a study abroad student, my grades didn't really matter that much. The only requirement is for me to have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA at my home university. I am sure that all the non-study abroad students there are really smart and had to have scored very high on their college exam or they call it the 高考.
They teach in both English and Chinese! It just depends on what program/classes you take. I had friends who took business classes and they were all taught in English 😊
hello! wld like to ask if they were strict about bringing friends over in the international dorm u stayed at? and did u choose to stay there bc u didnt manage to get the dorm at handan campus? im heading to fudan for exchange too!
Lim Li Xuan I’m studying at fudan now. I can say. They not really strict at all. Just don’t tell anyone. The international dorm is in the handan campus
Lim Li Xuan they are not too strict about bring friends over. However at the international student dorms there is a guard that watches everyone entering and leaving the place. Every student needs to show their room key to the guard before entering. But sometimes if you look like a “foreign student” you can just walk past and they don’t care. Sometimes they don’t care at all haha just depends on their mood I guess. I try to be friendly with the guards so they would remember me and I wouldn’t have to show my key card every time. If they ever stop your friend to check for a keycard they can just leave an ID with them and have you sign them in, and I believe they have a curfew for visitors too. I had one of them knock on my door before telling me it’s past the curfew. If you get home past midnight you would have to sign in to get past the gates as well. The dorm that I stayed in that was shown in the video is the main international student dorm in the Handan campus. Good luck studying abroad! You would love it!
how about vpn, i'm planning to apply for fudan or tongji uni however. work online using facebook and google a lot, you think the internet from the dorm is good and you can use youtube etc normally with vpn? thanks
Yes, you would definitely need a VPN. I used Express VPN and really reccomened it. I believed i paid about $60? for half a year for three devices or something like that. The connection is pretty stable. As for internet, you would need to set it up on your own as the dorm does not provide wifi. However it is super easy and CHEAP. You just need a good router and purchase internet service. There was a store on Fudan campus that offered all these services. Setup was pretty easy too! Hope this help and Im so excited for you!
Fudan has many different programs and partners with many school around the world. With a little bit of researching I am sure you can find a program fit for you. Good luck!

Would you say the exams are very hard and you need to spend a lot of time studying for them? I know that Chinese students have a very intense schedule and was wondering if the international student program is more chill. Thank you, I loved the vid :)
The exams were not too bad in my opinion, however, that also depends on what type of program you are doing. If you put in the work results would definitely show. I know what you mean by Chinese students having intense schedules haha, the libraries are almost always full of students studying. I would say that the international programs are definitely more chiller than regular Chinese students tho. Goodluck!
I don't know mandarin (aka Chinese) sorry if it's offensive, can I still enroll in fudan, like which college in shenghai or other cities in China teach in English?
fu dan is my dream school and Shang hai is my dream city. Unfortunately its so difficult for chinese student . thx your video:)

I heard that there will be an interview for international students, but I wonder if it still happens due to Covid-19.
When I studied there, I did not have to go through an interview. I guess it depends on what program you do. I wish you the best of luck!
I recently applied for a masters program at Fudan and I had to a group interview with multiple professors using an app on your phone.
