Guys an easier way would be to format as FAT32 (so it's natively supported) and use ps3 ISO tools to create an ISO but check the box next to "split for FAT32" and it won't have to copy the files to the internal drive when you try to play it will just play from the external.

@@familieboss4862 You must be new.... here is some sound advice, You don't ask that question. You can create ISOs by inserting your legally owned copy of whatever game you have into a PC and creating a disc image using deamon tools lite or something similar.

I downloaded the WWE game and it was 12.7GB on my USB drive which was 16GB. Eventually the game showed up on the multiman but when i try to enter the game it shows error 800100 so what i did wrong?, I even moved the game from the external drive to the internal drive and the same problem is there

yes if you go on multiman go to your hard drive and the games you want to move will be in the ‘game’ folder move them to the folder called ‘GAMES’ the folder should have a multiman symbol beside it

btw you can copy games from external hard drive to internal and vice versa with multiman just select a game from games menu and hit Triangle and choose copy. This easier way than using file manager.
Do you have an episode where you transfer files from PS3 HDD to an external HD? I don't really understand how to use the interface for the multiman files.
Not exactly the answer to your questions but if your PS3 is on your network, the easiest way to move files is to use an FTP program (like FileZilla) to connect to your PS3 and move them like that. Much less clunky than trying to use the PS3 interface to move files.

Neither worked for me on 2 different hard drives. Not sure what went wrong. I have been following all the tutorials to the letter. If I go the iso route the games say they are corrupt and if I use the file versions they say an error code.
@user-xm4em3gm5u didnt understand much from the top comments but 1 suggestion i could say is while having ur hdd connected , if you have installed multiman (i think its also called mmcm ) run it then go to the far left then downwards to an opinion about "switch to Multiman mode" or something along these lines, run it then after it restarts multiman go again to the far left (if it didnt do that for you) and click on the file manager It should open a computer like page, go to the bottom left corner (similar to where the windows icon would be placed ) Click O to right click Choose ntfs driver (not 100% if that what its called) It should do a scan and refreshed the page then you'll get 2 new files in the root folder which are usb port 0 and port 1 and you should be able to open ur hdd

Great instructional video for someone that is new to PS3 CFW and Multiman. It was good that you showed how to play both ISO games and Games in folder format. What I don't understand is why would anyone want to use the folder format since it has to be used on a FAT32 partition? It just seems like it would be easier to use ISO's or convert folder format over to ISO's. That way you don't have to worry about splitting up files bigger than 4GB or formatting external drives into FAT32. I want to keep everything as simple, and as standard as possible. I would rather just use ISO's as my PS3 game format for all games. Because I am new to PS3 hacking there might be a reason for all that, but I don't know yet since I have only just started using a PS3 with CFW.
@@familieboss4862 I use the Bit Torrent protocol. I can find most any games on the popular tracker sites. If you're not familiar with bit torrent, look it up it's not that hard but it takes a little more explaining than I can do here in the comments.

How do you back up games that you've already installed on the hard drive? I've had a game disc that broke.. I got the PKG file from the internet the game installed and I updated it. It took me hours and hours to download, install and update the game. How do I now back up what I've installed again as a PKG file or ISO or whatever would be best to back this up on an external drive and then reinstall it later / on another PS3 system? P.s. I know I'm need the RAP file for my game but I'm fairly sure I've found a 13000 rap list file and I know how to install raps as RIFs in Apolo save tool or just store them on an usb/exdata folder.

Hi, I can't get Multiman to detect my drive... No matter what I try... I tried with NTFS, with FAT32, with another drive... Nothing, it doesn't show up... The drive is configured to work as MBR, not GPT... But still doesn't work, the drive doesn't show up... Something weird also happens with webMAN... After installing it, I'd expect the folders "PLAYSTATION 3", "PLAYSTATION 2", "PLAYSTATION", "PLAYSTATION PORTABLE" to show up too... But that doesn't happen either... What am I doing wrong? Some game like GTA V and Assassin's Creed Brotherhood require the game to be installed or something and that takes the internal drive's space. Can we just do that installation on the external drive?

Drive needs an MBR partition table and it needs to be less than 2TB total

u need to split it in 2 partitions, ps3 isnt designed to go past 1tb can be finnicky at 1.5tb

Install managunz to ps3 and use the file manager to copy external, or go to reddit and join r/ps3homebrew where you can ask for help and be guided.
On multiman you can hover over the game you want to copy and open the options menu and there's a copy option, put it on your USB, simple as that.

For the ps1 and ps2 games os the same thing ? But the only change is to rename the paste on the external drive to PS2ISO and PSXISO ?
Seems like the better way is via NTFS so you can "run" the ISO files off of the external.

Forgets to mention even with CFW the ps3 wont read NTFS if its GPT partitioned and not MBR. Also needs to be smaller than 2TB

I though PS3's HDD is FAT32 but why can you transfer a 21GB iso file to it via FTP? I check on my PS3 it's success too.

The plus on fat32 is that you still can use it for transfering music and movies natively on ps3 without multiman and bring it to another ps3 as well

Something weird also happens with webMAN... After installing it, I'd expect the folders "PLAYSTATION 3", "PLAYSTATION 2", "PLAYSTATION", "PLAYSTATION PORTABLE" to show up too... But that doesn't happen either... What am I doing wrong? Am I missing something?

I went with the first NTFS straight .iso route but what would be the file structure to get PS2 and oe PS2 games working from the hard drive? Thanks!
create in the external drive file called PS2ISO and paste ps2 games in it.

must the ntfs harddrive be empty? like must the ps3iso folder be the only folder on it??
ive only ever used the native fat32 and ive never gotten it to recognize an iso.
It finds the game but it keeps saying the operation is not allowed and an error 80010002(EINVAL)
Some game like GTA V and Assassin's Creed Brotherhood require the game to be installed or something and that takes the internal drive's space. Can we just do that installation on the external drive?
So I’m confused do I have to buy the game the disk and copy it and return it?
