So proud of local Christchurch, New Zealand boy, Marlon, making good overseas. He trained with great New Zealand opera-singer, Dame Malvina Major, but decided to go down the country & folk road...He has the most amazing soulful voice for one so young. A true talent. May his star shine & rise high! :-) Go Marlon! Love & peace from home, down under in Aotearoa-New Zealand.

You never get too old for good stuff. Marlon is for me. His self-effacing gentility of manner is seductive. He sings to express rather than to impress. He is tender and melancholic and accepting of human imperfection. His voice calms and uplifts.

I've seen Marlon in Melbourne and in Toronto and I've got to say...one of the best performances I've ever seen. Whenever he does "When I was a young girl" there is a next level silence coming from the crowd. It's quite surreal. Not many people can do that.

Saw him last night in Seattle when he opened for Sam Beam and Jesca Hoop. Man oh man. I was transfixed from the first note - and I wasn't alone. He is magical live. It was a beautiful surprise, I'd never heard of him before. He sounds familiar and new all at once. As always, thanks KEXP!

Saw him at the Austin City Limits festival 2016. Knew nothing about him beforehand. Concert made me feel suspended between a David Lynch movie and a Ghost of Marty Robbins show. Unreal voice. Side note: two members of Pete Yorn's band were beside me at the ACL show. They were just about to go onstage but had to check out Marlon!
