  • A great hunting knife from the west coast of Norway, using laminated Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel in a scandi grind. The handle ergonomics serve better for hunting, in my opinion, rather than bushcraft, due to the flatter design.
Recommended for those wanting a well-made traditional Scandinavian hunting knife.

I’ve used this knife for woodworking tasks in camp the steel is weak, excellent for a novice or someone who doesn’t use his knife as much. Can be sharpened with a DC4 stone.
    Good looking knife
    Excellent packaging
I also have the dokka folder & helle GT.

The Helle Kniver site indicates that the Alden is not built of a laminated blade, but instead has a solid Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel blade. It's a very good steel for wet or humid conditions as long as it's not twisted hard. As you noted, the handle shape, solid blade and the metal guard itself together confirm the knife's main purpose: hunting. Most of Helle's knives use laminated blades, though, even some of their hunting models; the Alden is unusual in this regard.
