25 years ago today Pedro lost his fight. I was 15, and he taught me so much. The year of Real World with Pedro was the beat season in the history of 'reality tv'
Pedro was the first time I was given a real look at someone living with AIDS and educated me about the misconceptions I was taught. He broke through to me and helped to lessen my fears.
I was so lucky to get to meet Pedro after the show came out. Rachel Campos' dad was my computer teacher at Bogle Junior High School in Chandler, Az. Rachel and Pedro came and spent the day talking to us. He was really kind and sweet. I'll never forget him ❤
I remember his season of real world, i was 12 years old. That the first time i seen a more realistic presentation of someone with the AIDS virus. It helped a lot with my understanding of the illness.
I met Pedro Zamora when i was in Middle School, i was 13 at the time. He was a nice guy to me. I remember him teaching us everything he knew about AIDS.
Even though Pedro was starting to decline, his lack of medical care because he didn't have insurance helped kill him. Sad that after he died people had to have a benefit to try and raise enough money for the remaining medical bills. Crazy how the US still doesn't have insurance options after all this time.

Pedro and I are about the same age. I was in college and he was scheduled to be a guest speaker to talk about HIV/AIDS at my college campus. I showed up at 7:00pm to see him and I found out that the event was cancelled and he has passed. It was so sad, I was looking forward to hearing him speak and meeting him. Thank you so much for posting this! It walloped the hell out of me as a gay kid in his 20s to see this back in 1994. I think the message presented here is timeless. Too many people today think of HIV/AIDS as just a pesky inconvenience that a pill or two can keep at bay. Since watching Pedro on MTV I've been at the bedside or funerals of more friends dying from AIDS or related complications than I care to contemplate.

The difference is that I was diagnosed about 10 years ago and even today with all the improvement with medication and less stigma around, I just couldn't be as brave as he was quarter of century ago. That is amazing :-)

A smile because of all the good that Pedro did while he was here with us. For me as I am sure with many others, Pedro was the face of a person living with AIDS. Just by watching him on The Real World I came to understand that there are good people with the disease. I wish he was still with us. Pedro u are loved and missed
Happy Birthday PEDRO ZAMORA. Our nation's foremost AIDS Educator of Youth, turned MTV Real World heartthrob would have turned 40 years old today. He was born on Leap Year 1972 and died at 22 years of age on November 11, 1994. As we celebrate his life and reflect on his accomplishments, let us rededicate ourselves to people and diseases that are still too often treated with silence. Thank You Pedro for your inspiration.
Tonight, my thoughts of Pedro came to my mind, I don't know why, they just did, decided to search UA-cam to see if any videos popped up. I remember watching The Real World on MTV here in the UK, I think the San Francisco season came out in 1994, I would have been 26 years old at the time, difficult to believe this was 30 years ago. His name was etched in my mind, learned so much about life watching many seasons after this season. I learned so much about HIV/AIDS watching this season, Pedro was such a beautiful human being, the love he had for people was amazing, captured in the show, he will always live on in my memory.

I am currently watching The Real World San Francisco because of all the great things I heard and because of the milestones it achieved for TV. I knew that Pedro Zamora had passed away but I wasn't aware that it was so shortly after the show. It's strange because watching it I go to see him as an everyday person. When you hear about amazing people who have achieved great things it is hard to see them as everyday people who are just like us because you put them on a pedestal.
Real world retro brought me here. I remember being 7 yrs old and watching that show. Even though I was very young, I understood how much of an epidemic HIV/AIDS was at that time. I feel lucky to have seen that. Pedro educated a lot of people in a short time. What a great accomplishment!
He was, and still is so inspiring. He did so much for the world in such a short amount of time, and makes me asks questions about myself- such as what am I doing to contribute positively to this world? He makes me wanna become a better person. What an amazing soul. Thank you so much for posting this video.
God bless you Pedro. You were such a special person even before the national attention you got. Back when I knew you I was a bit of a pain in the ass. But I always admired you and knew you had a lot of guts being an individual in Hialeah Jr. High. When you won that price from Disney, I was so in awe. GOD BLESS YOU! I was nine when that season of The Real World came out. Here in Atlanta, AIDS was the “terror”, and my Mom made to to watch the news with me, explaining it all, even from when I was 4. AIDS really got to me, I was so heartbroken for the people suffering with it. My Dad was a hospital worker and we were all scared for him. One of his coworkers accidentally stuck herself with a patients needle and subsequently got AIDS. The doctors told her that her family couldn’t use the same bathroom as her or drink after her. We were all terrified to use public bathrooms... People even had to volunteer to take care of the “aids babies” in the hospital because the nurses were too scared to do it? Incredible how far we’ve come! RIP Pedro!
WOW i remember watching this on TV when i was 13,,really brings back memories....i was a big fan of this season and remember all the tv coverage of Pedro's death.
He wasn't squeezed out, he simply moved on. He was only in Pedro's life for the last 30 weeks - and 20 of those weeks Pedro was ill and back in MIami. Some felt it was more of an on-screen relationship than a real one.
As a Cuban-American I'm so proud of what Pedro accomplished in his short life, he will live in all of us for ever and ever, thank you for been such a great communicator and a great educator, RIP now Pedro you were a grand man "YOU DID IT" good bye.
Thanks. Pedro was truly amazing. Real World was just 20 weeks of his life, and perhaps the least noteworthy. It's not that he went on The Real World that matters, but rather why he chose to do it in the first place. He did 538 speaking engagements in the 5 years that I had the privilege of knowing him.
It's pretty cool to see them as real people... I'm 15, so I never saw the show, but I read the graphic novel that Judd wrote when I was 10ish, and again today.
So in a way, God took him and gave us you. Make Pedro proud. You are 17 - the age he was diagnosed. He passed at 22. He's want you to be careful, encourage others to do the same and live a long time.Preferably healthy. Many of us carry his torch for him and are guided by his spirit. Thank you for joining us.
My mom really really felt for this I remember her talking about this she was 14 at the time and her uncle which was just a couple of years older than her died from aids the year before and it really affected her
THE ALMIGHTY created a burning trash heap for those who refuse to let HIM make them into the beautiful soul HE intends... When we die in sin...we are burning trash forever
But his work continues. He was only 22. You must be 25 which means your generation remains the most impacted. I hope you continue to spread Pedro's message,
Pedro was an angel sent to us by God. "Puck" Rainey - his housemate on Real World - mocked Pedro's Cuban accent, and denigrated his career as an AIDS educator, and made anti-gay jokes to Pedro. Pedro should be made a Saint for never punching Puck out.
@brianquintana7 As a black man and a conservative who supports traditional marriage, I feel sorry for Pedro's family. Puck was wrong for attacking Pedro. BTW, on 3/24/10, (23 days after what would've been Pedro's 38th birthday) David "Puck" Rainey, who ridiculed Pedro during RWSF was badly injured in a car accident. No matter if you're white, black, straight, gay, conservative or liberal, please pray for Pedro and Puck.
Been going through random real world clips, where are they now related clips, etc, it's interesting how Puck wasn't included in most of them. I can understand why, just an observation.
pedro will always be in every heart of us, gone but not forgetten the fight is gonna be won, love u pedro rest in peace my friend, i pray a lot for u with deepest love xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
It's funny how they talk about Pedro visiting Cuba at 8:46, and the background music is Spanish flamenco, instead of salsa or rumba 🤣. Putting that aside, Pedro will live forever in those who either met him personally, or welcomed his words in our heart and brains.
@BobReidy Thank you. I am glad some people in here said Pedro was a brave man to talk about HIV and how we all have to be aware of what it is and how someone can get it and to avoid it. God Bless Pedro. We will miss you.
Thanks, yes he had an amazing impact on the globe. I believe Magic was spared to educate others. Pedro did his share reaching millions in a condensed period. Even before Real World he had spoken at over 300 campuses, done all the major media shows and testified before Congress. The clinical explanation might be that Pedro contracted HIV in 1989 and had full blown AIDS by 1991 when Magic tested positive. Pedro was on the old drug cocktails while those in the 1990's started on the new and improved
In their hearts they knew they would be reunited. They just didn't know it would be their Baby Brother that brought them together again on U.S. soil. A happy ending indeed.
Pisses me off to see Rachel Campos sitting there knowing that she says she loved Pedro so much yet as a Republican she is responsible for policies that discriminate against people like him.
Wait, so did MTV air this special tribute to him and it never have a home release or on a streaming site? I'd hate for it to become lost media or something, needs to be put on paramount plus as well
so amazing he is! its so funny how similar he and i are and i never new him. i do remember seeing him on MTV and soon after my life changed. you can youtube me by name Ruben Bermudez and see some of my volunteer efforts. RIP Pedro and now his then partner and friend Sean.

The Real World couldn't get anymore REAL than Pedro's Story - He was a true fighter and beautiful being! May his Legacy and name live forever.
I read Judd Winick's 'Pedro & me" and its just awesome :)
They both seem like such cool guys.
I Love you Pedro!
He was a beautiful man inside out I'm 39 today I still remember him I love watching that season because him cubanito lindo eh
Thanks. Pedro was truly amazing. Real World was just 20 weeks of his life, and perhaps the least noteworthy. It's not that he went on The Real World that matters, but rather why he chose to do it in the first place. He did 538 speaking engagements in the 5 years that I had the privilege of knowing him.
Jud winniick
Seems like an amazing friend
Wow same here...its been almost 20 years. I remember what a profound impact he had on me.
6:10 Brenden Frasier?
Yes
The real world use to be so good. It was about a real message. Now all they do is hook up, fight and drink. I miss this era of the real world
If he had contracted the disease 10 years later, he probably would have survived given the nature of the new drugs.
My mom really really felt for this I remember her talking about this she was 14 at the time and her uncle which was just a couple of years older than her died from aids the year before and it really affected her

I would love for him to see the impact that he's had in the world
Glad he reached you enough to evoke such strong emotions. GOD BLESS YOU.
What was the name of the song in the opening credits? It was hauntingly beautiful!
Harry’s Game Clannad.
Im watching retro real world pedro was so sweet
Pedro was a beautiful soul. Love Pedro and may he forever Rest In Peace .
THE ALMIGHTY created a burning trash heap for those who refuse to let HIM make them into the beautiful soul HE intends...
When we die in sin...we are burning trash forever
@@AMEER-114- Stop spewing nonsense
But his work continues. He was only 22. You must be 25 which means your generation remains the most impacted. I hope you continue to spread Pedro's message,
Maybe I’m wrong anyone who was a fan of the show . When Pedro was moved out felt like a family member moved .
Beautiful man inside and out.
thanx dude. i appreci8 it.
Been going through random real world clips, where are they now related clips, etc, it's interesting how Puck wasn't included in most of them. I can understand why, just an observation.
He did not look 22.he qas wise beyond his years.Rip pedro.
Rest in paradise KING
pedro will always be in every heart of us, gone but not forgetten the fight is gonna be won, love u pedro rest in peace my friend, i pray a lot for u with deepest love xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
He passed away yesterday (Wednesday 08/07/2013) RIP Sean Sasser :(
It's funny how they talk about Pedro visiting Cuba at 8:46, and the background music is Spanish flamenco, instead of salsa or rumba 🤣. Putting that aside, Pedro will live forever in those who either met him personally, or welcomed his words in our heart and brains.
I read Judd Winick's 'Pedro & me" and its just awesome :)
He seemed like such a cool guy.
happy birthday
I loved pedro.amazing person.wish he didnt die
Pisses me off to see Rachel Campos sitting there knowing that she says she loved Pedro so much yet as a Republican she is responsible for policies that discriminate against people like him.
He was very young. He could have done a lot of things if it were not for his early demise.
