My feed was just overwhelmed with noise, and useful contributors were leaving. It is the network effect in reverse. Irrespective of whether you leave or not you will find your engagement will decline to nothing. I wouldn't worry about abandoning it, no one new is joining.

I worked as a Social Media Officer for a Catholic charity and I lost that job because my boss hated it when I strongly recommended that we at least transition away from Twitter. This was from a moral perspective (re Musk and the changes you mentioned) and, to try and convince those obsessed with targets, I backed that up with the fact that our main demographic weren't on Twitter and that we're better off focusing elsewhere on social media. The events of recent weeks, I think, have vindicated my decisions against that horrible homophobic bully of a line manager.
I'm sure I saw previous stats that only 1 in 5 of the population is on twitter. And 80% of posts come from 10% of users. So 80% of what's on twitter comes from 2% of the population.
