The 300 was a fictionalized retelling of the Battle of Thermopylae in the Greco-Persian Wars.
i am Greek and i will share a very interesting fact..Ephialtis ,the traitor when spartans fell Leonidas said to Ephialtis to live forever...in english ephialtis means nightmare and this word is used from the greeks we have it to our vocabulary so yeah he lived forever :P
That makes a lot of sense! He was like Leonidas’ weak spot or blind spot.
They called them soldiers the immortals because there was so many they seemed to always keep coming
The Spartan Queen was the queen in "Game of Thrones" too.
Really? That’s pretty cool. I guess she’s great at playing that type of role!
It's a great historical battle
This battle was mentioned several times in The Last Samurai 😢 A must see movie.
There is 300: A Rise Of An Empire. Based loosly on the sencond phase of the wars
Thanks for the suggestion 👍
There were no monsters etc. The whole events transpired through the stories of the soldier narrator. Hence the wolf at the beginning, monstrous forms of immortals and traitor Ephialtes, size of Xerxes (all Greeks used to call Persian monarchs as Great Kings) etc.
So the narrator exaggerated the characters? Sounds like great storytelling!
Loved your reaction
Thank you ☺️
He proved a God king can bleed
As a Greek person I found this movie to be a stupid comic book cartoon. And making Spartan soldiers look like they came off of a Gay Pride parade float was just stupid.
Yeah, the source material was a comic book.
Actually this movie is not what everybody is saying it was. The movie is actually based on Frank Millers Graphic Novel 300 so that is why the director made the movie as if it was a graphic novel come to life. It is about the 300 and the battle at Thermopylae but it is stylized to match the graphic novel. It was not an embellished recounting of the true events like most are incorrectly stating. Those who have read the novel know what I’m referring to.
I loved how they used the comic book effect in the movie and still combined that with enough realism to stir your emotions!
