Hi, 6 months is a long period. Trimethoprim is chemical and is used for short treatments of infections. I would not use any chemical such a long period like 6 months. Maybe you can try it few weeks and then switch to some natural stuff. Also consider talking to another doctor so you have more different opinions. I dont have acne, but on youtube many use the dr bronner's 18 in 1 castile soap. Look it up. Be sure to dilute it, cause it dries out the skin. I use it as a normal soap every day and its awesome.
