  • Hey folks!
We are full swing in the heat of May and the garden is growing at an astounding rate! This garden is thriving despite the heat, wind, and ridiculous amount of bermuda grass... and today I am taking you on a garden tour of all the food I have growing on this desert homestead.
I have also received a garden tool organizer for review and found an amazing use for it as a potting station!

When I had my tomatoes in pots, they did better the more soil volume they had. The ones I had in full sun, I tried to not give them black pots anymore. I noticed the black pots heat up even more.

Yah I've definitely considered the heat factor of black pots. I have a few light colored pots too but we'll see how it goes this year!

First really hot day of the year for me. Was just thinking about my black pots getting hot and cooking the roots. Luckily most of my veggies are in large pots already. Ive always up potted sooner rather than later.

Loving your channel. The darn gnats are just kicking up here. I’m in New Mexico too but in Zone 6 B. At 6000 feet. I’ll be binging your channel. Your garden is doing so well. I just passed my last frost date so I’ll begin planting next week. Darn work gets in the way of what I really want to be doing. Happy Southwest Spring !

I put seven dust on the base of my squash plant and cover it up with mesh netting so that bees won't get harmed. It helps to prevent vine bores. I wonder if tinfoil would be a better option, I will have to try that.

I've never had to deal with vine borers 🤞🤞

Love your yard/garden, I’m so jealous, you guys have so much space! The sun shade is nice 😊 I’m not far from Trumps golf course in palos verdes and it’s starting to get hot here in SoCal, I’ve got 10 types of tomatoes and 6 types of peppers in my greenhouse as well as a few different herbs, also melon bed and a berry patch, and the pumpkin patch has started. Love your videos as always! What is Chase up to? You have really created a nice atmosphere there😊

Good video, I had trouble with celery now it keeps coming sometimes in other areas of the garden, I love having volunteer sunflowers , but I’m getting tired of amaranth it’s like weeds. I can’t wait for your next video ❤

Thanks for the recommendation for desert celery! I'll try it. And the foil solution sounds great!
Do you have a video where you talk about the type of trellis you use and how you secure it to the ground for your high winds? We also have high winds and I'm trying to figure out how to grow vertically for a few plants. Thank you!

I don't have a specific video unfortunately. Honestly I just used cattle panels and rebar staked into the ground. When the winds are too high I'll stabilize the cattlepanel with a 2x4 or something propped against it.🤣🤣 totally not fancy but it gets the job done

When do you plant your garlic and onion?
