These are getting rare...I had one with a janspeed stainless cat back,k&n and bluefin remap...seriously underrated..having owned lots of faster boosted cars none come close to the predictive chuckable handling these gems have straight out the box.
I had one of these in 2003, it had a janspeed cat back exhaust a piper cross induction kit with a KnN snorkel lowered on spax shocks and springs de tangod and it had a sound system. They were the days. I wish they still made cars this small and fun. The paintwork was beautiful and remains a favourite colour of mine. Imperial blue was usually reserved for escort cosworth Ford racing puma and focus rs and st170.
Hi Lewis , I bought a red a 2000 ( I think on an X ) one of these back in the day 9 mounts old with 8k on for 9k I absolutely loved it and done 90k in it , and now many years have rolled on I have a new bmw I hate and a jag I inherited off my father god bless him I’m actually looking for another one the best I can find for my cash actually I absolutely love them . This is a sweet little ride to mate I’d be proud of it that’s for sure ! Thanks for the look around 👌👍
Nice to see one of these that hasn't been messed with too much looks wise *and* has the 1.7 Puma engine swap!!! You didn't detango the lights but you tangoed the engine bay :-P
My mate had one in imperial blue as his first car and I loved it so much I bought one in black, I miss that car and I’m in the market for another one now! 😁
I dropped a back box on my 1.25 mk5 and I was surprised how deep it sound with a nice grumble and popping, still got stock cat and mid box and it pops and bangs in first gear
Have one of these for my first car and I’m safe to say I’m not getting rid of it. Paid £600 and had it for a year now and nothing’s gone wrong on it. Solid car, great fun and will be a nice project once I have a second car! Only down side the body isn’t as clean as yours, has the typical rust on the rear arches
Literally washed my pepper Red 1.7 after three years of being parked up. Changed the break pads. Parked it up after putting a LUK clutch in too after blowing the old clutch. Hope to have it out on the road within next few weeks then I paint my imperial Blue zetec-s kit and get it put on.
Looks great, I'm glad you took the engine cover off to reveal the rocker cover....I dig the strut brace your engine really does pop, very unique and def your style 👍
Looking very nice mate!! I have a mk7 atm and ive always wanted an st500 mk6 and stupidly i bought a mk7. When the time is right i plan to buy an st500 and keep it looking stock and keep it clean as hell. Enjoying the content mate :)
I bought a 1.7 puma about 10 years ago wanting a small nippy car and was very underwhelmed with the performance, it was a super tight little car with only 40k on the clock and handled great but it was the fiesta I wanted really, I'm not a coupe man lol I might be buying a zetec s in the next few days as daily, always had a soft spot for them.
Have the freestyle 1.25 mk 5 and wow lol the 75 hp it has can keep up with many new things on the road today. I find it remarkable. But sadly the arches are starting to go. So I'm going to invest in the 1.6 version and have many more memories and happy years motoring 😊
Thumbs up,nice video bout a really nice car,had a silver zs 1.6 myself, brings back some good memories.I really hope i´ll have the chance to own and customize one again in the future
Wow what a transformation! I agree keep this one standard looking/fast road use. If you need to scratch an itch with going crazy on mods then perhaps a 2nd car down the line. Sportka maybe? They did them in imperial blue😉
Sportka's are very similar to zs.. I've had both..rust killed my sport ka even though i looked after it plus low miles..so if you decide to purchase one check everywhere for tin worm..if it's showing anywhere on the body it's going to be nasty underside..inner&outer sills..petrol filler cap area.rear wiper mount..etc etc..cam ,filter &manifold are good mods on these...find a good one and you won't be dissapointed.
Nice car bud always had a soft spot for these and really wanted one as a kid when they were new lol. Only thing I would say is if you going for the standard look then that's the wrong steering wheel. The zs wheel has blue inserts. But still a beautiful looking car bud looks the part and bet it goes well too
Looks smart. I still have my mk5 imp blue fully original sitting on 70k i don't drive it.. Just sits covered but i can't bring my self to sell it. I must dust it off and give it a drive this summer.
Miss mine mate. I’ve got an 11’ plate Audi A3 as the daily but I’m gonna give that to the missis and 3 kids gonna get a zetec s and mint it and turn it into a project
I got the 1.6 sport with the sun roof turnt it into a ball rolling it roll cage and safety equipment saved me that hard of impact snapped the drive shaft clean in half so now I am reshelling it
honestly my dad brought me a one for my 17th birthday wasn't best pleased now I'm 19 and still got it such a nice car to drive don't think ill ever get rid of it
Lovely to see the car and all you have done. Not mk5 related question; whats your thought on big boost pipes ? Want to go stage 2 on my Focus but dont know if I want or need them
Thanks dude. Wouldn't bother unless you're going with a big ass turbo, you'll just get more lag. When I had them on my ST then went to the standard ones again I felt a huge difference in spool time. Don't waste ya money!
