This definitely was not an example of someone adopting because of a savior complex, though. That makes it even better. That can be a concern when an American/Canadian chooses an international adoption over a domestic adoption.

I think that David was Ewan's guardian angel. David told Ewan to go by his gut and do what felt right rather than what was easy, even if his work was cut out for him. As a result, father and daughter found each other. I hope that Ewan always remembers David's guidance for as long as he lives despite the pressures of those around him to succumb to what is easy, and that many more blessings come his way. I've always thanked my lucky stars that I was able to leave Vietnam at the age of 6 for a much better life in NA. I'm sure Jamyan feels a similar deep gratitude.
I knew him long time ago he’s famous yes and because he’s obi wan but I just started to really admire him since I’ve watched his long way series last year where you’re finally got to see him as real person. I love his personality, very down to earth, he’s easily adapted to local environment y know he’s not acting like a diva, he’s funny, very soft, love children, friendly with anyone who doesn’t like to take advantage of him of course, happy go lucky and kinda sensitive. I saw him break down just talking bout the refugee. He’s so normal like the majority of us.
Best part of the season. So emotional. Talk about coming full circle. Seeing that wee girl from 2004 actually joining him now as a teenager is so beautiful. Bless you Ewan....

I hope one day I meet Ewan and Charlie . I saw long way round a few times as I have the DVDs . I travelled a lot with motorcycle but nothing even close to what they have done . Seen this video put tears on my eyes . I wish earth could have more man like you Ewan and Charlie ❤
This was my favourite bit of the whole series....such a beautiful story. I remember the children’s shelter and jamiyan as a wee one from LWR, what a wonderful thing to have happened for her and the whole mcgregor family❤️❤️
I wasn't a huge fan of Long Way Up, probably because I'd been spoiled by Long Way Round which to this day is probably my favourite documentary of all time. But this scene utterly blew my mind - I had no idea!

If I remember, (and there was very very little info because he kept it quiet) he set up a trust for them both in case he wasn’t able to adopt her.
