Sat through a whole bunch of Absolver beginner guides in frustration, with pretty much all of them feeling more like an excuse for the person making it to humble brag about how skilled they are at the game than to actually help introduce newbies to the complexities of its unexplained mechanics and provide easy-to-understand pointers for gitting gud. Happy to say you're the exception. Instructional and to-the-point, without any of the try-hard filler bullshit. Thank you!
I want to start out by saying that this is a good guide and very useful for starting out. BUT 1) Blocking does NOT prevent any abilities' effects except shockwave's pushback and Earthquake's knockdown. Every other debuff power still has full effect. 2) Dodging is not recommended except when dodging a Guard Break (lava move) as a khalt player. you should vastly prioritize using your class ability over dodging, since people will often have a string that can chase you down and punish you in the same way you can roll caught in Dark Souls. Dodging also takes a lot of stamina if used repeatedly. Do not disengage with a back dodge. That immediately puts you in a vulnerable position. 3) Move buffering doesn't so much cancel your defensive ability as queue up an action to come out as fast as possible. You can also buffer your defensive ability out of a move. It's essentially gold chaining your defensive ability. 4) Punishing is not 'free damage', in high level play you will have to work to make the opponent make a mistake. Saying that the only way to avoid pressure is to either shockwave or use hyper armor moves is false. I recognize that this video is older and things have changed, but this was never the case. Using shockwave to escape is a nasty crutch and it is wise to avoid using it that way. 5)Gravity does not guarantee you a full combo, it can be easily blocked, and while you will still give them the mobility debuff, the stun won't happen if the opponent is blocking.
A REALLY, REALLY GREAT and to the f*king point guide to beginners. There is no great tutorial in game so I'll be linking this video around to confused newbies. Nice job.
Jus got the game like today and it’s pretty easy to get down tbh if I ever get to a stand still point I jus switch my deck up and usually that does the trick but so far I love it and one of the best fighting mechanics I’ve seen in a game
My best way of learning Absolver has been crafting destincly different decks. I could see what advantage every playstyle has and how hard they are to learn. Having a refined combat deck has helped me a great deal and allows me to avoid things like fainting, to be less punishable. All the things you said were very important, but I was missing that part.
Hey, PSN released Absolver for Free, so I'm giving it a try. I'm a traditional fighting game player, and your tutorial is very well made. Subscribed and looking forward to what else I learn from you!! I'm going to be using Forsaken as I have a Street Fighter 3 background
Also thanks for the golden bar tip I was seeing players start using that and some AI and was confused ash how to get it. Keep making content Frl you help out hella ppl
Thanks for the vid, very well done. So to gold chain I've got to wait until the attack animation reaches those two little arrows, which moves around the bar depending on the attack type, while at the same time watching my enemies attack deck to memorize it, dodge or block it, while half the time being assailed by multiple enemies? I can do one or the other but not both at the same time. I'm getting too old for this shit :)
Sid amazing guide you deserve it you deserve more subs tbh to me you deserve a million+ subs ur talented and an awesome you tuber with potential just keep up the work and your dreams will come True bro
hey, i was wondering how to get fragments (the ones used to buy items) and rift disks, i cant find a video on it any where. p.s. im really enjoying your absolver videos.
fragments can be obtained by selling your clothing and buying rift disks is obtained by purchasing them at an alter in the essence tab. It costs 5 crystals for 1 rift disk. You get crystals by leveling up within the game, and you can also use those crystals to buy emotes and reset your stats.
new players, kahlt so you begin to understand the basics or if you want to keep constant pressure. windfall/forsaken when you can be able to read decks easily (hardest styles) or stagger if you want a challenge :P
How do I beat the main campaign? Like do I just clear all the white and red dots across the map? I’m also trying to get more moves to make my combat deck better but it seems as if I’m not getting any more. And how do I get more spaces in my combat deck on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th row because I see people with more slots than I do 😂. Help would be much appreciated!
Juss Breezyy to finish the campaign you do go to all the dots and beat up those peoplle and you get a max amount of move slots when you reach lvl 60 i think not sure
Sid thanks bro! I’m gonna try to beat it and farm as much moves as I can off the AI until I get to level 60. Is that what you recommend what I should do and then hop into the PvP scene?
Great guide I love buffering and fainting almost in silver and I would say I'm really good at the game but that's up to my opponents lol hard to find god tier players tho but anyway yea good guide.
you made this pallatable, everyone esle comes across really dry and makes the game look dull or they're sarcastic and think they're funny. like that ding dong with the sloth avatar
This is a great video, but I feel that the title is misleading... This video does not deserve the title “Ultimate Absolver Guide” as this video is just informing people of basic fighting game terminology with only a few Absolver exclusive aspects.
Their any master absolver players than can help me? I’m a big time for honor player but this games controls are so different I feel really lost would really appreciate being someone’s Padawan lol
use the environment to your advantage. throw them off ledges, push them off ledges, bottleneck them. make them fight on your terms. i once took on three players in pve by simply bottlenecking the broken wooden bridge in the city. one went off the ledge, the other died to his buddies aoe air kicks and soon enough it was one on one. and those no shame in retreating if dying bothers you.

Glad it helped you, spent a while making it :)
This game is really complicated
No lie

This month this video will prob explode with views because PS Plus will have Absolver as one of it’s free games!
oh yeh truuuue :D
Dude im hyped to play it thats why im here
I just started playin cx it was free

Who still playing In 24?

Also got it for free. Does games like bloodborne and Dark Souls help me in this matter to help me with this game?
Ethan Orozco kinda, cause in DS and Bloodborne you do have to learn your enemies moves, so you’ll use that in Absolver
Coffee Mafia Besides the obvious parts such as weapons. I probably won't excell in the hand to hand combat.
Ethan Orozco wait there are four styles? it shows 3 for me
GHHOSTY #_# (SPOILERS) You get the opportunity to learn Jackie Chan Drunken Master later on in the game. But you'll have to find a well hidden NPC.
Also thanks for the golden bar tip I was seeing players start using that and some AI and was confused ash how to get it. Keep making content Frl you help out hella ppl
Guy really loves the word "punish".
I somehow made it to 1st prestige level 30 and 45 combat level without knowing what gold chaining is..
ahaha ez

The more kick moves you have, the more you win
Cockney Violins fit so well at some points. Good pick.

This has been fairly helpful mate. Good lookin.
1:40 why isnt this spot a CT arena smh
Do you have a school? Your deck looks badass
What fighting style do you recommend and which one do you use in the video?
Absorb ability since it's the easiest to use
new players, kahlt so you begin to understand the basics or if you want to keep constant pressure. windfall/forsaken when you can be able to read decks easily (hardest styles) or stagger if you want a challenge :P
Sid Thanks for answering, also, which one do you use in the video?
at the start windfall then forsaken (forsaken is parry)
Any tips on when to use ur defensive ability? Esp as windfall and forsaken? Should u be using to escape pressure? Or offensively?
Yes to escape pressure and to counter their counter attacks so you can continue on being aggressive.
Sid thx! :D
Sid waiting on "forsaken v stagger"!
allg :D
one day...
Great video btw who thinks this game should be an anime
thanks bb

get a good grasp of the fundamentals of the game, then try pvp so you don't get destroyed :)
Curious Question, why do you use the word punish?
Ethan Hunter why not what would you call it????
How can you practice doing these??
Yo u should keep posting
1 year later i m from a noob to a lvl 100 pro in fighting and make my own pro combos :3
Feuertrash can you teach me
Great guide I love buffering and fainting almost in silver and I would say I'm really good at the game but that's up to my opponents lol hard to find god tier players tho but anyway yea good guide.
ZorosD cheers
Any tips for fighting multiple opponents? That happens all the time in PvE.
Subbed.
oof
I have no idea what you said in this guide I am a noob plz help!
I hate the L1 button it’s so stupid. This game is fun. But seems hard I just want to explore
one more point, you can throw off the opponent from a cliff, thats a quick way to win..lol
So I just downloaded the game I just got put in to the world and except for the marked ones i have no clue what is going on
Koen Van De Vijver same lol
how you get that outfit
you made this pallatable, everyone esle comes across really dry and makes the game look dull or they're sarcastic and think they're funny. like that ding dong with the sloth avatar
*oof you deserve more subs*
Anyone know how to get the Black Belt Trophy?
Dodging is useless 99.9% of the time
it isn't i win every fight because of dodging you just need to time the dodges with time it becomes easy
Is this game free for ps4?
I thought ps4 gonna release a shitty game again but this game is awesome playing it non stop
:D
This is a great video, but I feel that the title is misleading...

Come back sid!!!!!!!!!
idk what to make vids on tbh
Hi
You forgot to mention dodging (not windfall avoidong) is cancerous
That goes to show how poorly this game teaches new players I just learned how to gold chain from this vid and I’ve been playing this game for 3 weeks
jesus
Is the online still active?
im pretty sure its dead
No its active. Easy to find duels
It's still active to this day but can't get anyone to do 3v3. Just try to find a group of people to play with
, it's more fun that way.

Great guide, but PLEASE, use a DeEsser on your voice, all your "esses" hurt
I learned nothing... lol
katanas
this game is some shit
None of this makes any sense to new players. Stop explaining only to the adept players.
This game fucking sucks
