My grandfather, Peter Bisson, was a Cape Breton coal miner from New Waterford.
My Dad was a Miner ..#26 ...with his Dad! My Grandfather of course... Worked together.. GLACE BAY! ,NS... looking for this song for a long time! We had the #26 Mine explosion, I was in grade 9... Felt the school shake....we all sent home.... Rest is history 😢🙏❤️🇨🇦

Love this song. And love the singer Fred White
Shared the one with Rita McNeil, and now sharing Fred White's song. True stories.
Such a beautiful song

Very nicely done. The images puts some of what those men had to endure in perspective. The darkness and working conditions were such that most of us can only imagine what it was like, but not really know.
My favorite song
1:27 The man sitting down reading the paper is my uncle Mooney Chiasson. He was a hard working miner and a great guy. I really miss seeing him around Glace Bay. It is great to see a picture of him.
So proud to see my dad in there.
Beautiful job Junie. Pleasure working with you on this film. It will be a great tribute to the miners and your grandfather. So proud to see my father in there and my brother.
I was suprised when I received this video today from sister in law in New Waterford and finding two of my pictures in it # 4 Mel Gorman and my father Erven Cestnick Senior and # 18 Father & son ( Me ) Erven & Erven. These were taken in 1980 after I returned from Germany . I went to the bottom of # 12 where my father cut coal. 55 minute trip down 6 miles and 6 miles out under the Atlantic I was told.
Mr. white. I would like to get more of your music. Could you get hold to me. I also want some of you friends bob lewis.
This is a great song. And a beautiful singer who knows what it is all about.
You are welcome, thanks for replying, didn't expect that. And I like Fred - love his singing. also love Mary Ann. And I wouldn't have wanted to be down in those mines.
