Upon receiving two Wandelburg Ausf. 1s and a collection of spare parts, it was hoped the Republic’s limited industry would be capable of copying the simple Wandelburg. However, the Republican Army had yet to see action in Macchi at all and designers were given little guidance, resulting in a tank reverse-engineered with a limited idea how it would be used in practice. The result was laughable in its combat debut, but civilians and partisans in occupied territory soon learned to fear the Gletscher, its impenetrable armour, rows of machine-guns, building-levelling cannon, and towering four-metre height made it seem invincible.
The Kingdom of South Loring had a great many things going for it, what it didn’t have was manpower, and as the war came to a close, it also began to run out of time. The Kingdom invested their advantages into creating the most advanced weapons they could for when the war came to their mountain cities, and the Bergsteiger V.1 was the primary tank of this army, one that had clearly learned every lesson of the Great War. The Kingdom would be overrun in a month by Fokker forces in 1599 anyway, their troops surrendered en masse, realizing that a glorious last stand still gets everyone killed.

It's incredibly hilarious how this entire kingdom was preparing for glorious last stand that never happened... because their soldiers weren't suicidal.
10:50 I'd argue it was actually the development of reliable sabot and HEAT rounds which killed the squeeze bore concept. Sabot achieves the same goal of an extremely high muzzel velocity without the barrel life and ammo variety problems, while HEAT ignores muzzel velocity entirely.
Getscher: The tank voted most likely to destroy the orphanage where the protagonist once lived or blow away their parents during a protest. Maybe both to the same protagonist.
The Bergsteiger: The tank your group gets to hunt down the Gletscher that blew up your orphanage. Thanks for the video.
the Gletscher sounds less like a slow tank and more like a semi mobile bunker.
Oh god it's a 1920s Urbie!
There is always a worse tank.
Always.
See you when Fall of the Valkyries comes out!
god damn, end of series and here I was hoping the ridiculous klann linkage truck had a sheet with background. Also the cam driven half-spider???
looking forward to the new series! i really love this one, and im keen for more!
I wonder what you'll be doing a deep dive on next?
Hmm yes today I shall make a worse tank!
:clueless:
funny tank!
I wonder if it was coincidence that one of the two strongest tanks in the game is called a “Tiger” with an extra letter?
Nope. "Bergsteiger" means "mountainclimber", so probably not.
@ yeah. I looked it up. Still kind of funny.
