We Bought the WORST BMW E46 330CD Cabrio in the UK!

- Are we mad? Have we gone and done something really stupid?? Possibly, but as you'll see, we just HAD to buy this car! The paint is the worst, it's been attacked with rattle cans and chemicals. The clutch wants to leave the car, every part in dings or broken.... it smells.... but can we restore it to its former glory? We bought with our heart not out heads on this one!

I'm not going to lie Lewis it makes HubNut's recent purchase look almost sensible by comparison! 🤣❤ In all seriousness though looks like a cracking project and what could be better than saving a lost automotive love from the brink? Can't wait to see what you and Leanne do with it 🥰👍
The pajero looks a lot better now this one has rocked up. Going to make a lovely pair of e46s!
I worked for a BMW main dealer for nearly 20 years, I saw a lot of the E46 models in various states of dire condition but I can honestly say that I never saw one that looks as ruined as that one, looks like its been cleaned with a scotch pad all the time !!!
Not many wives/partners would laugh along with you! Love the sound of the tractor engine conversion as well.
We're both as bad as each other! 😂
It must be soul destroying to see it in such a state but if anyone can bring her back to life you can. Fantastic vid 👏👏👍
We will certainly do our best!
Fantastic. Instead of being thrashed even further by another owner, you turned up and will save it again.
I love the feeling of buying a car I once owned before.
Looking forward to this
Looking forward to this, I wish you all the luck with the rust. How can anyone treat a car in this way, it wouldn't be this bad if it had just been to a roadside hand wash.
But that just means there's more fun to be had (and more content) in putting everything right! 😁👍
Exactly! Lots and lots of fun!
Yes, I bought a BM. Sorry to trouble you. It's my old cherished BMW. The things you do for love. Count me in this is going to be a very interesting project, which ever way you decide to take it.
Great buy Lewis. I can see Lianne cracking right on with it straight away 😂. Will make great content!
Desperate to get stuck in!
Wow! I cannot believe the rust on a 2006 car! Wow!
I think 🤔 car makers need to be held to account for these rust issues - unless it’s been stored under the sea lol 😮
Looks like a great project :)
I have the same car on 257k my rear arches are mint previous owner had it from new and pressure washed them out every week so do I, dirt gets up there and sits on the lip and rots them inside out. The front wings were a bad design from factory though, the wheel arch liner rubs the paint off the inside arch and dirt sits there causing it to rot out.
The last time I saw a car that bad was at Hednesford Hills banger oval. Its a proper wrongen.
We have the same problem Lewis, too many cars for too little time.
Just finished working on a 330, to be greeted by this! Not more!...
You can't escape, they are everywhere! 😂
That roof sounded like my knees 😂
Lewis mate ,that's not rough it's Abrasive however if there's a man to make it smooth again it's you ,good luck and Happy Christmas to you all.
Lewis & Leanne, you've got your work cut out for you. I can understand the emotional attachement to this particular car having previously owned it. When I bought my 2003 Volvo XC90 it had 4 CDs in the 6 disc CD player.
Collection caper get in ✊. A saucepan silver BMW.
For the Jedi restoration master there's two weekends worth of work there tops until its better than the day it left the Fatherland!!
Let's hope so!
I’ve got a 320ci convertible on 257,568 miles now it’s pretty tidy for the age and mileage honestly all I need to do now is change the drivers side wing as it’s starting to rot and the differential as I’ve killed it from sliding 🤣 I payed £750 for it with a fresh 12 month mot !
Had a bad repaint with knacker lacquer as we used to call it? Always liked these especially the coupe
Looks like a good project, again. Ps I wasn’t aware that sandblasters could be used as painting equipment
We all learnt something new this weekend 😂
@@WhitelandRestorations definitely 👍
Please send help 🤣 that poor poor car! That’s madness!
that is Hubnut levels of shocking! the only redeeming feature looks to be 2023 dated tyre(s)
Have recently started following you channel, due to the Hubnuts using your garage to fettle various rusty motors. Always puzzled me as to why you always seem to have 'Peppa Pig' playing in the reception area/office ! I noticed on this episode, that you have a small human in there !!!!! in a cage !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
On the subject of cars, specifically BM convertibles, love them and always fancied a 330 petrol as a sunny day car, to explore Scotland/Wales/France with
Blimey Lewis sometimes you gotta let things go man 😆 its definitely gonna need some work mate and some more work and some more work but at least you got a couple of CDs to dance to while your at it 🤣 seriously though it’s gonna make for a great rebuild video I’m looking forward to it I’m sure it’ll be beautiful again 👍
Good luck with this one.
Why do we do it to ourselves, I’m just the same buying so much work 😩😂
You could call it Lazarus, resurrection from the dead and all that
Nice modern rat-rod project. Don't you dare get rid of the patina! Just put it in matte lacquer. Love the wheels.
That conversation was had......
I was so sure i was watching HUBNUT 🤣
Name it Ti! Short for Titanic, 'cos it's a bit of a disaster. (Thanks to the Two Ronnies).
Name it Ian, because this is HubNut-level bad 😁🤣
Typical 1k/aerosol lacquer fail.tge old stuff had little UV resistance.only other possibility is 2k clear with not enough activator.used to work for a guy who wouldn't let U measure activator etc.everything was guessed with usage being in his favour,as he billed each trader individually for consumables.that way,it saved him paying for consumables.
It's a beamer ! Does it have the indicators option ?
That factory option never gets ticked!
@@WhitelandRestorations, does it have the horn and brakes lights swapped - that used to be a commonly chosen option for beamers?
It's a convertible. Converted into a shed. Good luck.
I think the terrible recorder rendition would have been appropriate here 😂
Titanic theme tune rendition!
The Streets of Birmingham are thick with these BMW E46 cabriolet's .......just as manky and twice as clapped out!
I wonder if this one ventured that way for a bit!
Are you, competing with Ian, on who can buy the most rust?
Proper old bomber, that. Lick of paint, though...
So Lewis makes bad (car) life choices ...
If you want this choice to feel sensible, there's always Clement - he needs a little bit more work than both your E46's combined! Plus he's already sporting a great rat look!
What happened to Volvo's alloys wheel restoration?
See last reply...
In the pipeline!
I'm just going to call this patina. That way there can be peace of mind about it.
Patina.... Job done!
it looks like it was painted with a hoover
Think our Henry could do a better job to be fair!
You are looking for a name for this bavarian beauty? What about «Waltraud»? Or «Traudl»? Or «Trudi»? I'm curious what you will find underneath this body in «nail file finish»...
See you soon --- Martin
It's going to be interesting to find out!
You could call it Gregory after Gregory Peck coz it rhymes with wreck .Sorry😮
Lol think there's a few rhyming names that could work for that 😂
I have a set of good condition spotlights for that would you be interested they came off my 320d convertible which was written off by a motorbike
Cool send us a msg on the socials or email 👍
Name..."Christine" lol
¡Ay, caramba! No es muy bueno, señor. 😋
you only bought that car to get the plates off it because that is not a good advertisement for whiteland restoration
Could be worse... Could be a knackered and rusty SM!
Can't imagine ANYONE dumb enough to buy a total money pit like that! 😂
Or an even more rusty formerly blue D Super 5. With some spectacular prior "repairs".
We've all got our guilty car projects! 😂
The most expensive cars to run is a cheap German car. Good luck.
Some truth in that!
Wow, what a peach 😂
Think more of a lemon 😂🍋
Tatty but basically sound.
Looks like a shitbox, but then you never said what it cost
Next episode! Need recovery time 😂
@@WhitelandRestorations with your bodywork skills and the way youtube is going a supercar project would be huge for your channel, or at least an E46 M3
There's only one thing stopping us having a project E46 M3..... Money 😂 When the channel gets bigger and we get more time on our own projects it's going to be on the list!
Be beautiful in a couple of weeks? Seem to remember the Volvo was a short job that grew like topsy 😉
Hahahahahaha..... We don't talk about that 😂
