- Yesterday, we heard from avid Who fan Paul Kelly about the art collection he unwittingly inherited from his friend, who turned out to be John Davis, the artist of the pictures in the book, A Decade of The Who. Paul is now looking to display some of the art at events and has added to the collection with memorabilia including 3 replica Quadrophenia scooters. Solent News Now joined him showing his collection to antiques expert, John Cameron, himself passionate about mod scooters.
We are the Mods, We are the Mods, we are we are, We are the Mods
Its like Triggers broom. “This old broom has had 17 new heads and 14 new handles in its time.”
Sting couldn't even ride a scooter. That's because he is not a mod he's just a fkn BELL BOY.
He was actually a little bitch!
Love this movie so much
Blimey, nice scooters!
I used to know the chap Kev Percival who actually owned and restored the true original of Jimmy’s LI. He actually found it in a garden in a house in Portsmouth and bought it for about £70.
Amazing!
That parka didn't look like the original Mod's parka, they were from the Korean War ex US army ones. I have one and they are worth a fortune.
You can still get really decent M51s for under £100.
I was a young postman in brighton at the time.
If any of my mates had been an extra in the film I`d have known about it.
we used to watch the fight scenes on the beach from the top prom and the punch up at the bottom of East Street.
Nice one john
Brilliant! :)
Wow I would like to hear more from this guy and a good look at the original Vespa off the album cover
mod69
They're replicas
I remember when this film came out I was 17 me and my mates tried to sneak in the to see enter the dragon I wanted to see the warriors so we got in around the back it was dark inside my mates went in I was last I Lost them ended going in the wrong door this was the film I sat all the way through on my own and said to myself this is going to be shit it wasn't it was good liked it I went back the next week and payed to see the warriors...
The warriors? Do you mean the Coney Island warriors that were trying to get home ? If so that movie came out long after the Who movie.
Getting the words original and replica mixed up
Now that's a fan
When I was a mod back in 79 vale onslow on Stratford road Birmingham had stings scooter on show. My mate and I stole the mirrors and lights of it. Put them on my pe 200 vespa which I copied liked stings my name is Wayne and wish I could be that mod again amazing times
Shame on you, stealing items off another person's scooter.
Cool story once a mod always a mod I reckon
The gs was obviously a px with the gs look a like kit on, as its well known, youd have to off your head to throw an original gs150/160 of a cliff lol , nice collection though, somebody who was looking for the pic of jimmy when the post office van hit him, the original black and white one is in the book you got with the original black and white quadrophenia album from back in 78/79
Correct. I have it.
No px was used in the film the one that whent over the cliff was s TS125 witch was a rally frame with a 125 engine these were imported to the uk in silver in 1977 for the silver jubilee
Is there a place to find the full program?
I hear the word replica a lot in this video.
Anoraks are great, aren't they?
Love em!
🤣🤣😀👍
the vespa logo is wrong for 1964, that logo came out in the late 70's
Thats because its a 70s Vespa Rally with GS panels. The film was released in 79 remember
Jimmys scoot in the post van scene was an Li special, round headlight not square & pretty sure only 3 sting scoots were built, just saying.
I think you are right, Ian. It's got Special panels and a 50p headset. Looks like it's got a li mudguard though, so may be a Spanish 150 Special?
Nice mod for it
Damn, any one know where i can get the black n white pic of Jimmy with the smashed up scooter?
It’s in the photo album that came with the original double LP. The same album was inside the double CD years ago but I’m not sure if you can still get it.
well explain the one that's in the hard rock cafe in florence,i have a photo and it don't look at all like these it's all red really
The label disintegrated thats convenient isn't it. Just a fan boys collection.
Thats cool ktf
so where are the original scooters?
Some useless info on the scooter sting is riding the initials GS in bold letters are his proper initials ( Gordon Summner ) 🇬🇧🇬🇧 there you go .
replica ?????
A 100% replica ?
Yeahhh, 50 times? Wow! I don't reach that number and I thought to be crazy cause I saw it more than 20 times.. ..hahaha...
As much as I love scooters, the way they're decked out like that - they just look an absolute mess.
You just don't get it.
1:07 '...afixshinardows...'?!?! Aficionados is pronounced: 'ah-fiss-e-on-ar-does.'
REPLICA'S
100% replicas, so not the original
Malcolm Coghill they were made for the film..not used.
Yeah bought them all …
Replica.
Replica.
Replica.
😂😂😂
I saw lambretta GP's in tbe film they were not about in 1964,hey who cares😊
Replica x 3. I am not impressed.
Agreed, anyone can make replicas, what's the point?
@@lptomtom detail is great though
This man needs a frontal lobotomy !
Yang kau percaya buat apa 🤣🤣🤣....satu lori tu 1.5juta....siapa suruh tak pakai calculator....susah betul nak kelabukan mata korang...
and sting can't dance either the feet you see in the film are not his. also as any respecting qwadrophenia fan would tell you as the scooters driving towards the cliff theres no plastic fairing on the scooter.plus theres bare bones scooter boys scooters lol
Stripped down Lambrettas were a late mod/early skinhead style in the late 60s.
@@laurenceomahony1462 indeed.
Nothing like the original film scooter just very bad copies
Scooters are nothing like the originals just very bad copies
