Yes, it probably has, its just harder to believe this stuff is real when they can’t keep one basic thought. If they added details that make the story seem fake it would seem less realistic
It could be real due to Stockholm syndrome. "When a person develops emotions and feelings towards the person who kidnaps them. Changing their personality and many other possible things" it's a instinct to survive and some people's brains overwrite themselves to something that would produce mass results to survive. Like I said above. Developing feelings towards their abuser/kidnapper/stalker
