Hamlet, North Carolina is known for a number of things, including:
The train
Hamlet was once known as the "Hub of the Seaboard," and its train station is its most iconic landmark. Eight major branches of railway cross in Hamlet, and it was also the "Pivot Point" of the Carolinas because it is located in the exact center of the two Carolinas.
Jazz pioneer John Coltrane
Hamlet is the birthplace of jazz pioneer John Coltrane, who was awarded the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1997.
Other national figures
Hamlet was also the birthplace of journalist Tom Wicker, who was a political reporter for the New York Times.
Main Street Commercial Historic District
This national historic district encompasses 23 contributing buildings, 3 contributing structures, and 1 contributing object in the central business district of Hamlet.
Depot and Museum
The depot has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1992 and is now a museum and hosts the annual Railroad Festival Day. The museum features hands-on exhibits, visual displays, and interactive consoles.

Filming for Billy Bathgate began in late 1990 in Hamlet, North Carolina, when Walt Disney Productions invaded the town and transformed Main Street to look like the 1930s Bronx town of Onondaga, New York. The film also took place at:
McArthur Falls: In 1989, a small scene was filmed featuring Nicole Kidman swimming in one of the natural pools
Saratoga Race Track: The oldest track in America, located in upstate New York

Very nicely done. My episode of Hamlet is coming out July 27th. The family and I had an awesome time there. The whole family learned a lot and had a blast. We were lucky enough to be there when the Tornado Building and the Depot Museum was open. Enjoyed your video. Keep up the great work.
