A lot of people asked why Priyanka couldn't do that herself and needed her dad to put his foot down. But this sequence had a very important part this was probably the first time her father was standing up for her. The entire movie she thinks her father only looked at her as a commodity that was given away for business, but this one interaction showed that he would put her before the fame and money and fight with her and for her as a father, even if it's against her husband.
Even as an independent strong woman, priyanka in this scene realised she wasn't alone fighting her battle. And I find that beautiful :").

    As a working lady myself,
I could relate SO. MUCH. to Priyanka's character in this scene.
She's a SELF MADE woman, she doesn't expect her in-laws to give her money or depend on them financially.
Even then, this mother in law says ki they "invested" in her, as if she's been a burden to them. That doesn't make sense lol she's not even considering why they're getting a divorce
And then she says "kuch galat kaha maine?"
See, she's angry over the divorce and all that, I get it. But what Zoya Akhtar shows here is the mentality of these women in general.
Another great scene, well done 🙏🏼👏

2:14 to 2:21, years of repentance, redemption and rage like a father found the lost love for his daughter has been brilliantly portrayed by Anil Kapoor. 3:01 the way he folds his hands and requests them to leave , inside his tapori mind he'll be like " maa beta dono katlo yahan warna maa behen hojayegi tumhari"😂😂. Also "Woh butter knife hai" was an ingenious trigger though 😂😂 Ranveer singh excels 👍
