incredible game, it's kind of insane that a couple of indie guys could have this vision, and then execute on it so well and so elaborately.... I'm flabbergasted at the scope of the work and the care/craftsmanship put into so many aspects of the game
Dude i only have 20 hours, I know I've missed so much but I'm in to deep to restart. When it does happen I've learned yet more that I can use on a fresh run. This game is so deep, and I'm starting to push it on my friends as it needs that attention. If you can read this recommend Void Stranger to someone today!
@@SanraiDalris Getting the DIS ending gave me more questions than when I beat NG+. Pretty sure to understand it, you need to have a thorough understanding of ZeroRanger, which is also a great game in of itself with a similarly great twist.
Thank you for this review. I haven't played a game that made me feel the way Void Stranger did since SE's last game. They deserve way more recognition than they have!
If you like Void Stranger, definitely play ZeroRanger. No, it doesn't matter that it's a shmup, it's a really good shmup that despite being pretty hard is also a really good entry point to the genre. And since it's made by the same team that made Void Stranger, the story and framing are obviously going to be something special.
I think the real appeal of the game isn’t necessarily the puzzles. It’s the secrets and lore. There are dozens of sokoban games out there, but none of them have such deep lore that you only scratch the surface of on first play through.
I’ve played this game on and off for three months and what got me the most was what it was hiding and was aware of your presence from the very beginning easily one of the greatest games I’ve ever played.
@rickiesgucci4814 There’s a psp ps2 game that was never fully translated into English yet called tales of rebirth it’s one of the greatest stories I’ve ever seen in a game.
I've literally never heard of this till now, but I am deeply intrigued by what you've said about it and then the other commenters on this vid. The whole "I don't want to ruin the surprise" aspect reminds me of Signalis, which I absolutely adore, of course. So I'm very interested in this block puzzle game haha
My friend recently started playing this game. Since we share games on Steam, and he recommended me some nice games (killer7 for example), I watched him playing and got interested, all I knew was that you could pick your hud and use as blocks as well but nothing else. The game is incredible and truly something else, it makes me feel like the Roguelike experience where you need to do it all again but in the end it DOES matter and IT IS worth it.
The craziest mechanic for me was that opening chests gave you a "free spin", making you face down/the screen after opening, and some levels use that in their solution.
Such great video thanks for covering the game for us, also happy new year for the channel. also I wonder if you try'd a game called Greedventory and hell is others.
i highly recommend you try out system erasure's other game, zeroranger, just like this one it may seem like a simple shmup on the surface, but once again it truly is something else also void stranger is full of references to it and the two games' lore seems to be connected, though i haven't seen all there is to void stranger yet
loved the video, and I need to thank you to keep in mind the fact that the game's beauty comes from its mistery, since, you know, otherwise some experiences would be ruined ':D now, What If... ...you played ZeroRanger?
Yknow that sounds like a pretty cool idea. I can't make any promises if I'm going to make that video, but I will look into it, thanks for the recommendation!
You know I get that this game requires you play it to truly enjoy it. But what about us who are too poor to play void stranger while its still relevant? Will anyone put out a review where they actually take me on a journey? I might never get to play this game, I want an adventure of an essay to tell me what I missed out on. X3
Even after 40 hours of playtime and multiple endings I still have stuff to do and I still get marvelled at it. The game is simly great.

A wild Brian appears! Have you put the game down yet, or is it still consuming you? 😄
still consuming@@CommanderQ
Oh, this dude only has 20 hours. He has no idea what’s in that void.
Just remember this factoid. 90% of Void Strangers quit just before the real true ending.
All of us got stuck on this game. That’s how clever it was 🤣

I'm wayyyyy ahead of you on that I'm trying to make a video with all the lore lol@@LucidDreamexe

For sure, I hope their games blow up in popularity!
For sure, hopping that day comes soon. Thanks for the sweet comment!
literally my GOTY and im so glad seeing more people making videos about it. i feel like its only a couple months before this game blows up
Fingers crossed, this game is wonderful!

It also has a great soundtrack that has been stuck in my head for weeks.

If I only care about the puzzles and don't care about story, characters, lore in games, would this be worth picking up?
@@flickering_wick Yes, actually. The puzzles are still rather deep and designed to be playable even if you don't engage with the secrets.
It makes me so happy to see Void Stranger finally starting to get the recognition that it deserves

what other games you have player that are very good? (not downplaying your claim just wanna put it into perspective)

If you decided to give it a whirl, Noah my guy your in for a good time!
Also I still have to try out Signalis, gotta put that on the list.
Played signalis right after void stranger lol, there's definitely quite a lot of similarities
@@DanielG-e8t Okay dang, I'm very intrigued then. I'll have to grab this
Best game ever, the brightest hidden gem of all of them

That's so cool to have that experience with your friend! Thanks for sharing!
I'm usually not someone that sprouts profanities. But every time one of those sneaky Cif statues get you....

Thanks for the tip on this! I'm having a blast with it so far, and it's looking to be a magnificent game to start off the new year with
Awesome to hear that! Glad you enjoyed it and have a great time!
They don't even look the same but its giving me 'baba is you' vibes
Makes sense. Both games are developed by finnish people
void stranger is just a game that. gets me. you know.
SIGNALIS is 2022 goty, void stranger is 2023 goty
Well, i now know the first thing im getting with my new computer
Thank you for ahowing me this i love the style of the game

80 hours and ive seen both voids and ... many many endings lol. 20 hours is barely a scratch. 80 hours is barely a scratch.

it's only 12 dollars, one of the most affordable games of its scope around these days
