My Dad passed away from suicide when I was 6, and not that he was a famous Rockstar or anything... But I work at his old job and work with people who worked with him and they tell me stories about him. I relate to what she's saying so much. For what it's worth I'm very spiritual and I'll be talking out loud to My Dad and the lights or electronics go a little whacky, start flickering or beeping. I like to think thats him around me everyday of my life, whether I like it or not.

She stated years ago that aside from buying a home (and it’s fairly humble for her level) and helping her mother after they reconciled, she didn’t want to touch it and wanted her own. She said it felt like blood money to her, she didn’t earn it, and she wanted a Dad, not his money. She has produced work as a visual artist from a young age, and she’s never out partying in designer clothes. I see this grown woman who's now a cpl/few years older than her father was when he died, and then I remember the black & white photos of a short-haired Kurt lovingly holding her in his arms ftd. in a long ago issue of either Rolling Stone or Spin magazine (I'm 90% sure that it was the latter) and felt a profound pang of regret for Frances that she never got to grow up with her father -- never had him there for her first day of kindergarten or had him around for fatherly guidance while she was in her awkward teens or young adult 20s. It's already a traumatic experience to be the child of a deceased parent who died when that child was still very young (an infant, yearling, or toddler in the case of Frances), but that trauma becomes exponentially amplified for those children whose affected parent was a celebrity -- and even more-so in the case of celebrities that had the rare global reach that Kurt had in his too-brief time in the spotlight. Save for maybe Antarctica, or a very remote Pacific island, there's almost nowhere on this planet where she can't escape reminders of the father whom she never got to grow up with
