I jumped a lot of freights out of Missoula during and after the merger in the early 70's, NP and GN country back in the day. Spent time at the rail yard, round house area railfanning before MRL shut down the former NP depot and turned it into a prison yard, I'm not sorry to see MRL going out of business maybe BNSF will change things for the better.

The homogenization of our railroads is depressing. Losing Burlington Northern, Santa Fe and now Montana Rail Link and others.
