"This song was hard to write because there was so much imagery that I wanted to include from different parts of my life. I wanted there to be a huge contrast from being young and happy, and then completely losing that, and struggling with that loss. There’s parts in the song about struggling with depression and self-harm, which is so different from the way I had been when I was a kid. It’s like seeing this weird reflection of myself and not understanding what went wrong."

Shit. This song hits home. I really love that analogy for happiness being something elusive that you try to catch in your hands and hold. That's a feeling that sucks when you are super depressed because it's motivational to seek out this flighty little happiness thing, but it's also an excercise in futility at times. The happiness is being chased for the wrong reasons and it's a distraction from the feelings you don't really want to feel anymore.

Just listened to this on the radio. I was born in 91 and only later realized how much good music there was during the nineties. I thought music like this will never come back.. Welp here it is.. When I shazamed this, I was sure this must be from the nineties. It's also strange that she was born in the late nineties.

her music and mitski's feel like a great companion: mitski's represent anger and passion, burning flame - while sophie's the aftermath, mellow and "i'm depressed but it's ok" kinda vibe which i absolutely dig!

I've been a Pink Floyd fan most of my life, and I loved their perfectionism, atmospheres, moods, Vivid images, amazing song writing, phenomenal players, perfect recordings, and they strike chords deep within you. And this is what I love about Soccer Mommy. All these things are true of Soccer Mommy as well. Count me as a fan!
