Thank you for sharing this story - very informative. I did recently file a claim through pirate ship for an item shipped UPS and was damaged upon arrival. I did have to provide quite a bit of information and photos obtained from the buyer so Pirate ship could file a claim with UPS. It wasn't instant but I did get my refund in about 4-5 days. I am glad that I purchase all my UPS labels through PS as it sounds like dealing directly with UPS is a nightmare.
Glad it all worked out for you!

The buyer of the painting was no help and thus should be penalized somehow. eBay needs to have a better policy on buyers who claim damage and then do not help to give proof of damaged box or even responding. Your perseverance paid off in the end. Way to go Drew!

How frustrating that UPS isn't working with you better. As resellers, we depend on UPS and when things like this happen, you'd hope they would take care of you, whether or not they cover the money lost or not. From what I've heard, USPS isn't much better. I know it's part of the business, but it's never easy losing money on an item you ship. Thanks for the update.

Further down the road I would remove from frame and just ship print. Enjoy the videos. Happy Holidays

What a disaster! But very happy for you that you were refunded - if that happened to me as a buyer I certainly wouldn't go MIA. Sorry if I missed this, but did they provide photo proof that the item was broken? Do you think they may have been dishonest from the start? Thank you for sharing your experience, it's definitely helpful as I also ship fragile items with eBay and have never used Pirateship for those, but will likely consider it now for any of those 1 lb+ items! Happy Holidays Drew!

Doesn't seem right. The buyer basically ended up with the painting, which may or may not have been damaged, and their money. And you had the stress of fighting tooth and nail to get your money back. I think a certain amount of time has to pass and it all depends on who you talk to as to the outcome of most claims of any kind in any company. But the end result, you stuck it out and you are "happy."

Buyer has to respond or it's on them. Had the same thing happen before. Buyer bought a gpu and sent it back with out the shroud cover for it and took the mounting brackets off it. after originally going in the buyers favor I called ebay. Buyer never responded when I claimed the item received was not the same one I sent and they gave me all the original sales price back since the gpu was now unsellable.

Cool Beans, the buyers complete radio silence after the initial convo about wanting the return, leads me to think they are guilty of the actual damage with the item, like they are the ones that actually broke it when or shortly after opening it, and where afraid of UPS figuring it out when they went to get it, so they didn't want that to happen. I've had a few return requests for an item that you can tell that the buyer ruined or damaged the item, then afterwards never communicate back with me again, or bother to actually return the item and then ebay just closes the case in my favor, because the buyer missed the window to ship it back. I'll be curious after the buyer realizes it was appealed and they now are not getting the refund, if they communicate or take further action.

It’s confusing because you would assume that since they never returned the item, that the case would be in your favor. Glad you got it taken care of
