Exactly! I remember as kid in the 80's when Reagan was president and them saying unemployment is low and there's jobs out there! And my dad saying yes there's more jobs out there but they're low paying jobs like McDonald's and retail! I'll never forget my father pointing that out to me! And here we are in 2024 and nothing has changed! If my father was still alive he would be disgusted with where America is now! And he was a proud world war II vet and he hated flag waivers and people who had behind the flag like Trump!

He bragged (on his show) about how he gets to fly on a PJ, he constantly carries water for the rich "they pay their fair share", he is one of the most uneducated people with respect to politics often getting caught showing his ignorance when his guests bring up well known political events and his response has been "when did that happen? I don't remember that".
He's not a political commentator, he's the Jim Cramer of politics for HBO and hasn't had a good joke in the better part of a decade. His only "liberal" views are "Trump is bad" and "Pot is good" (while complaining about self medicating) 😂
Love Anna but her rant against narrowing roadways to make them more accessible for bicyclists and pedestrians is wrong. If she was right then widening roads, adding more freeways would’ve already worked in LA and elsewhere. Study after study has shown that doing this does not relief congestion. Pedestrian fatalities are at an all time high because drivers are racing everywhere and running into pedestrians in their big heavy SUVs. Narrowing the roadways slows cars down and makes it safer for everyone.
Her take on this is pathetic. "It can't be done," she says. OK, but Tokyo can do it? Even tiny villages in the Netherlands have good mass transit. Yeesh, Ana.

I HATE it when people complain about “over-medication” and “over-reliance on drugs to make us happy”. It just smacks of someone who has never had clinical depression. It just pisses me off so much, the opposite of depressed isn’t “happy” it’s “functioning human”. Urgh so small minded.

I saw a video with Milton Friedman basically arguing the same point about certain things being cheaper to buy. Being selective he left out the essential things. Weed and porn doesn't put food on the table. The things we lack are the things that matter most. Affordable house number one followed by healthcare, retirement, and food. Those things are unaffordable and the thing that most Americans struggle with the most. Unimportant things like cell phones are affordable.

Anna is absolutely wrong about converting car lanes to bike lanes. Piles of research prove that more car lanes induce more traffic congestion. Cyclists are the solution to traffic not cars.

@@freesalt3989 there is a lot of research and literature on this. Americans are trapped in cities that require them to drive everywhere because increasingly car capacity actually exponentially increases the need to drive a car by crowding out other ways of travel.
A good book is “the high cost of free parking”
Take a trip to Amsterdam or Tokyo or other major cities around the world and you can see the contrast with dangerous, polluted American cities.
Dedicated bus lanes will greatly REDUCE traffic congestion. As it has many other places.
The simple reason is once you give people options, many of them will pick the bus. They didn't have that option before because the bus was stuck in traffic with everyone else.

I’m a white woman & I am very grateful for my Costco wardrobe ever since Covid. My Costco leggings look just like Lulu Lemon, I guess.
I am not grateful for the shithole healthcare under Biden. I am not grateful for the years I couldn’t see a doctor on my HMO. I am not grateful for the grift of a $1400 insurance plan when they were not following the mandates of the ACA because the doctor didn’t have time to see me or find out what my health issues were.
I am not grateful that the PPO was so expensive we couldn’t buy it, but we had to pay an extra $30,000 in income taxes while the richest don’t have to pay.
I hate Biden & the health insurance lobby. I hate the director of the IRS who is a Trumper. I hate that when we had car repairs, root canals, and other expenses/emergencies, the IRS didn’t pick up the phone. In fact, my husband called the IRS when he was laid off & it took him a month to get through. The IRS stole $1000 out of my husband’s small severance pay when he was unemployed.

Ana. It is actually a SCIENTIFICALLY ESTABLISHED FACT that traffic congestion in big cities simply cannot be solved by increasing the number of lanes and roads. This is what studies indicate. The only workable solution is better public transportation. The biggest problem with that is that Americans love their cars and cannot fathom the thought that public transportation can actually be effective and perfectly pleasant, as it is in many huge city centers in the world.
You missed the point, we are putting the cart before the horse. You need need a good well designed public transportation that will incentivize the use of public transportation. This isn't Denmark or Germany which has been building good public transport for decades. This is a broken down infrastructure America. And she isn't arguing to expand lanes, she's only asking not to decrease lanes which is what they are doing. So its the worst of both worlds, crimping lanes with a continued crap public transport. This is the worst of urban planning. And we have the exact same thing in Boston.
@@writerconsideredyeah I have to admit I have little idea of what they are doing exactly over there but I haven't heard specific criticism of if by Ana or any discussion about it on TYT. In this clip, it just sounds like the kind of knee jerk hostile reaction that I've encountered elsewhere when any kind of major improvement to public transportation is suggested. Space is a very limited and precious resource in dense city centers so it's often impossible to develop public transportation in any sensible and meaningful way without scrapping lanes or roads somewhere.

I would be so happy if I never owned a car and could ride a bike everywhere. I get what Ana is saying about bike lanes. American cities were not designed for bicycles or mass transit. Most of us live in the burbs, and L.A. is 30 miles wide and has mountains. Ugh, a triathlete's dream come true.
Why is Ana like this? Why so selfish and whiny? Los Angeles voters voted for their bike lanes, so maybe, hey, get over yourself? Oh, boo-hoo, you'll be inconvenienced. ....and it is a well established fact, that dedicated bus lanes and bike lanes, reduce car congestion ...as does just reducing car lanes, by itself (counter-intuitive, I know, but it's clearly true)
It's a tough line to walk between complaining about how bad things are and simultaneously being thankful for the fact that there are so many ways things could be much worse.
Ana, you really need to look into walkable cities, strong towns, and city planning. Adding lanes to your highways does not reduce congestion. It actually stays just as bad or gets worse because now more people will drive. Car dependence is the problem. LA is poorly planned and far too car dependent, which is why you have the congestion problems you have.
Biking, public transit are far more efficient than cars. If more people opt for this instead of cars, there will be less congestion, and there will be a reason to improve public transit and biking infrastructure so that it is far more doable.
Another idea to make walkable cities is if people get used to living in smaller houses (via augmented reality) and exercise machines. Also building up and using those line cars (gondola lifts), that can "change" lines like a monkey or spider.

To make matters worse, it seems whenever people are referring to "rising wages," it's really meaning corporate type jobs, big organizations like hospitals, or union jobs. It's never factoring people like myself that are freelance or people who work for small or independent businesses.
Carcentric urban planning was a stupid mistake and the solution is a return to commuter rail infrastructure even better than before. More cars on the road means more congestion. Widening roads and adding lanes only causes induced demand and more traffic jams due to inevitable bottlenecks down the road with more vehicles trying to squeeze through.

I don't understand why people don't use the market in a free market economy. I bought a gallon of milk for $2.95 at Aldi , the same day I went to Publix , that gallon of Milk was $5 . Why? A Box of cereal was almost $7 at Publix . At Aldi $3.50. Even gasoline can very .20 cents a gallon on the same day. People are idiots . They know how to complain though. If something is too expensive leave it on the shelf. If everyone one did that the price would drop.

Yeah there are Apps that show the lowest prices for everything especially gas, like Gas Buddy. Also just look on 2-3 sites to find the cheapest food it isn’t hard and there are Apps to help. Migrants were an issue under Trump as well and we would have a good Bill in the Border if Trump didn’t say don’t pass it so I could use it as an issue to get elected. Increase minimum wage so the average worker can have a reasonable lifestyle. The low end workers have the worst deal right now.
More public transit will take more people off the roads. Anna somehow doesn’t understand that more public transit improves traffic congestion. A person taking a bike to work will remove one car off the road. A bus will remove like 8 cars off the roads.

Bike lanes are good, actually. You alleviate traffic congestion by disincentivizing car travel and promoting other more efficient forms of transport

Let me say first that I like Ana….but I haven’t heard her say something positive for a long time. Like yes, the country has problems but my goodness, there are good things happening too.
You can only access the amazing things with money, maybe most of the bottom 40% may have running water and indoor plumbing and refrigerators, but they don’t have any stability, security, or any hope that one emergency won’t put them on the street. Any increase in wages is immediately lost in increasing cost of living expenses (mostly rent & food) and the people who end up with the increased wages the bottom 40% earn are the top 20% that own the assets that the bottom 40% can’t afford to own themselves….
