Yes! If you get raw macadamia nuts soak them! If you can only get roasted- they won't puff up in water like the raw ones so you can skip it.

Can I use another nut base? In North Africa we don't have macadamia nuts. We do have almonds, cashews, pine nuts, walnuts, pistachios, and hazelnuts, though.

Chef Joy when you travel or have to eat out, how do you handle those situations?
Sometimes you order a salad at a place and the salad looks like it came right out of one of the prepackaged grocery store salad bags and taste gross. Its like you are better off ordering a sandwich than that crumy salad.
