Since I saw your video review of the 19' Ford Mustang Coupe in that astonishing gun metal gray color I felt in love. I had the opportunity to buy the top gun 5-pack where this model is come from just few weeks ago and oh boy, I love it. Definitely my favorite matchbox from the year and probably one of the best of all time for me!
So many nice finds this year! That green matchbox '56 Aston Martin #3 DBR1 is way cool! Not sure if it was my favorite but close! For a regular is way cool!
The Polaris is fine, I hope to see it in the National Parks Livery eventually. I actually really like the Volkswagen Beetle convertible, it's better proportioned than the old Beetle Concept convertible casting from around 20 years ago, or at least it looks better to my eyes.
I don't think it's the best, but the Powell is definitely the most surprising in that I like it a lot more than I thought I would. Just a really cute and charming little thing!
Best: Porsche 550 Spyder because it is the Porsche 550 Spyder Disappointing: Porsche 550 Spyder because the wheel wells are to large and the fit of the engine cover is poor.
They are all great. Given the year i am surprised i have most of these. The best one i like is the powell pickup. Super simple design with a great history behind it. It looks far better in tbe hand then on video. I would vote the most disappointing is this year not any of the cars and how it went but in most areas mattel hopefully delivered as best as possible. A real rocky ride.
I don't think I've seen anything past the N case at my local walmart. BUT I went into the local grocery store HyVee tonight saw a new dump bin and found the 2021 Corvette Grand Soort Roadster STH. Only 2nd STH I've found. Also scored a sweet dodge van. That's why no matter how crazy I may look I always keep hunting. I know this had no relevance to this video but I had to brag somewhere.
Matchbox is on point with the castings. I wasn't a fan of the Orange colored mustang. But the same casting in green is fantastic. Even castings I don't normally have interest in I've bought because of how well the casting was done.
Overall it is a shame MBX cars are so cheap. Why? With more tampo passes and some more chrome they would be so awesome as the castings and model selection is terrific. For example, the Caprice is a great casting but it really needs front and rear tampo. The MG is cool but it cries out for headlights. The Taxi is cool but the black windows (no interior) really hurts it. My favorites are the regular cars with front and rear tampo. Best? This is hard. Maybe the Corvette. So well done. The Bugatti is nicely done too. Otherwise I also really love the Jeep Renegade, Alfa Romeo, Mercedes CLS (or whatever it is called), the green Caddy, the Mustang, lamborghini and nissan truck. Disappointing? The Challenger looks weird. The small Civic is dominated by the post in the back (the Golf too but not as bad). The Gladiator lacks front detail (not just tampos but it has weak lines too). The Kangoo is way too small. The older Mercedes doesnt seem quite right (or maybe it is breaks in the front of the casting and lack of headlights). Oh...and matchbox. Please stop putting blue windshields. They look awful in photography. And unrealistic.
The best Matchbox new model out of all of them not just as an eye of a collector, but a piece of childhood memory growing up when my dad actually owned this truck. It is the Nissan Hardbody Not exact color his was green, wasn't a double cab, It was single cab & no sunroof, however suspension is correct & has the same style decal design as my actual dad's truck ( By the way I peeled dad's actual decals off his real truck when I was very little). but never the less the Nissan Hardbody is the best casting of the year for matchbox. It's even also best with the new Motorcycle Trailer too.
I don't collect Matchbox at all really but the only one I purchased in this video was the Porsche 550 Spyder so that's my vote. It was so well done I couldn't pass it up.
For me it was very hard to pick one car for BEST 2020 New Model because Matchbox did a wonderful job this year and I had 4-5 excellent new models in mind (Alfa Romeo Giulia, Honda Civic, Nissan Hardbody, '19 Ford Mustang Coupe...). Equally hard to choose the MOST DISAPPOINTING because I don't think there were any major disappointments. There were models that don't appeal to my collecting tastes, but the castings were still well done in my opinion. Thanks =D
As an moparguy, i am not concerning abeot the reecent mustang. But, that Matchbox is awesome... Also love the Civic and the Beetle is rad too, especally the Spyder.
Went with the Alfa Romeo as best,. Accurate wheel wells, nice cast and tampo details, scale appears spot on 1/64. Disappointed in MGB GT and Civic. Nice castings but why make them so large? I understand not being able to do a modern American pickup to true 1/64 scale as it would be >3 inches and heavy, but the MGB GT simply needs to be slightly smaller not tiny.
This was a very good year and Matchbox is only getting better and better including their unlicensed castings. It was a very hard choice but the one I absolutely love is the Civic, it doesn't feel like a $2(Aus) basic toy, it's almost a scale model! Most disappointing for me is the Bugatti, it just looks cheap and needs to be a Hot Wheels; Matchbox just don't generally do supercars that well imo.
For me picking the best was tough, but I think the Giulia QV probably. The worst has to be hands down the Renegade, the color is repulsive, they could've chosen from so many great colors the Renegade has, and they ruin it with almost neon green.
The Powell is really cool and unusual. The Bugatti Divo is ...well UGLY. The front and back look cool, but the side profile looks terrible. Door lines aren't pronounced enough and the piece behind the front wheel well looks added on. I'm holding out for the Diamond T. Hopefully it comes out soon.
I just don't think we should've mixed basics with moving parts, but oh well My best: Divo, DBR1, or Porsche Spyder My most disappointing: Divco truck or electric taxi since no interior
I have a bunch of cars that I haven't gotten rid of for years, and I'm thinking of cleaning out and making some extra money while I do it. I'm brand new to the scene of matchbox for selling intentions, and I've only just played with them, like the 5 year old I am haha. I don't know how much anything I have is worth, and if I should just pile them all up and give them away for $10. I've been starting my project, and hopefully I can get some of you on board with me once I'm done. I've been numbering, and laying the cars down on a sheet of paper, I could make a video showcasing all the cars, and then you guys can tell me if anything I have is worth some money. Is there a site, or something for me to share it on, and get answers? Thanks for the help in advance, I'm looking forward to getting to know more about the world of matchbox. :)
Well that's a tough cookie to crack, I mean there are a lot of beautiful models released this year, like the Honda CVVC, AMG GT 4-door coupé, Jeep Renegade, Corvette C8, Aston Martin DBR1, '41 Caddillac, Ford Ranger and so on, However, after much deliberation, I still chose the Ford Ranger as the best model for 2020. Just because of the proportions, they are allmost pefect, the deco's on the frond and back are spot on and I love the new offroad tires. But at the same time there are also a good number of models that were disappointing, For Example models like the VW Beetle, Renault Kangoo, london Taxi and so on two other dissapoitig castings for me are; Yes i dare to say it! The Bugatti Divo and the Alfa Romeo Giulia, the Divo for me is dissapointig because to mee it looks way to boxy and I miss some essential details and lines and that's exactly what kills the Giulia for me dew to a lack of details and lines that aren't there where they used to be and especially if you compare it with the Giulia that Majorette also released this year, this last one is just a perfect example of converting an Italian beauty in a model car! But the outstanding example of the most dissapointing casting for 2020 is of course the hiddious Jeep Gladiator, First they where way to lazy to put even doors in the casting , But that in itself is a bit of a nice thought because that is what makes the model so iconic, although it is a very lazy solution to reduce costs and on top of that, the fact that they seem to refuse to put any tampo on the front, away from the model, in my eyes that is just plain sad!
It was appalling execution when the original was launched in 1975. There seems to be a small group or so called matchbox experts that seem to lead matchbox by the nose on their personal preferences

Matchbox Mustangs are much nicer than Hot Wheels Mustangs. Jeep Gladiator with no doors is most dissapointing.
