- Fatty Bear's Birthday Surprise had some new dialogue added to the Windows version, but however that dialogue actually comes from a similar version was made for the DOS operating system on CD-ROM and also packaged with the Humongous Classics Collection. It has the MIDI music and cursors and subtitle colors you recognize from the DOS floppy disk version, but the updated dialogue and sound effects of the Windows version (the emotionless Fatty Bear sure has a habit of always pointing out the obvious in this version!) I also play it using the CoreAudio MIDI system on my MacBook, making the music sound more impressive as a result.
For this I pretty much choose all the optional paths/obstacles, such as giving the puppy a bath and the Scooby-Doo -esque "chase the puppy" bit (which is much funnier in this version!) - Ігри

It's always nice hearing the midi on your MacBook.
I have the feeling that the main reason most everyone seems to have the older DOS version is because abandonia hosts the original floppy release, and since some people think they don't have to bother buying a material copy it's the only way they can get it.

Haven't played this game in at least 14 years. My memory is a bit vague, but I recall the version on the Classics Collection using the same cursor as the other Humongous titles, not the yellow cursor in the DOS version.
On the Windows versions, yes. The DOS versions used the big yellow cursors. And the Humongous Classics Collection CD came with the Windows, Mac and DOS versions of the three games.
Ah, okay. It's kind of a shame they didn't go all out and release the enhanced version with hand-drawn graphics. Or at least make an animated sequel. Granted, Fatty Bear is probably the least interesting adventure title made by Humongous (though I still like the game), so they may not have felt a follow-up was worthwhile. The game is about living toys though, so an interesting sequel should have been fairly easy to make.
