that’s what i have been saying. I think we were caught off guard because idinas raspy voice was singing for like a minute so we kinda forgot how lea sounded bahaha idk
Honestly I found Shelby to be such a selfish character. I understand that she wanted the whole experience of being a mother and that it's her life, but that didn't mean that she needed to shut Rachel out so completely. Not to mention that Rachel was 16, and she could have still used plenty of advice and support from not just an experienced and very talented performer, but also a mother, her mother. You can tell that Rachel admired her very much, even though she'd only known her for a short space of time. They start out so happy in this song, a moment they must have both been waiting for for such a long time, and when they sense that it's ending, they immediately begin to show their sadness at this fact, that's why I always find this scene so heartbreaking. It's just unnecessary torture for both, because things could have been different, if only they tried to develop their relationship a bit more.

It was a good choice to keep some distance between her and Rachel. She didn't say "I'll never see you again", the 2 of them will probably keep in touch, but not as closely as a mother and a daughter. Rachel already has 2 dads who raised her with love. Her dads are the ones who were always there for her. It wouldn't be fair for Shelby to just come into Rachel's life after she's been raised by her 2 dads, sing a song with her, and start acting as a real mother. Like she said, she is only the biological mother of Rachel, but she is not Rachel's mom and she never will be. Rachel was pretty ungrateful when she said "she was deprived of a childhood". She had the love of 2 gay dads who loved her and helped her to become the star that she is. I get that she wanted to meet her mother to understand why she gave her up. When she found out that she was a talented singer she was obviously impressed and I get it. But... That's all they have to share, Shelby's not a parental figure for Rachel and she never will be, because she didn't raise her. Also, Rachel should stop acting as if she was deprived of something, because even if she didn't have her mother's affection, I am sure her dads gave her all the love they were capable of... so Rachel should really stop whining/acting like some sort of orphelin. She even got to meet her biological mother, they had some good moments together, all is fine.
honestly i saw where shelby was coming from because it wasn't just about the full experience. it's also the idea that if rachel went without a mother and was used to for 16 years and then suddenly had a mother who didn't know how to be a mother, that would probably confuse her. and the whole idea of finding things just for them. at least their last memory together was a good one
Gosh, was so mad at Shelby..She went into rachel's life and when she didnt find what he was looking for she just disappeard.. Like she didnt even THINK how big impact it had on her daughter. Poor rachel, she must have felt like she was not good enough

same here. i'd do anything to just be able to go back to the country i was born in. finding relatives is not very likely, but i guess it would have been awesome sing a duet... :p
I like how singing is at least one way for them to actually communicate, even though the fact that it's the only way makes it very heartbreaking. They don't really know how to talk to each other or what to say, but in song they can show it. Especially Rachel puts all her emotions in. It just fits their characters perfectly.

The part where Rachel goes “Oh oh oh oh” sounds so much like a different song that I really want to know the name of so if any of y’all know it please tell me 😂!!!
Rachel's storyline is so tragic to me and this moment is the real beginning of seeing that. She was literally bred like an animal to create a child star with superior genetics and was trained her whole life towards musical theatre. Her life is so empty of genuine love and care and was completely bent towards success in an almost robotic sense. Unlike Burt and Carol who represented supportive and caring parental figures, her dads only represented a means of getting her towards her career. This moment was the first time she reached away from her goals towards a loving relationship and she was shut down (by her mother!) in preference to career and the way her (Shelby's) life was comfortable. I feel like Finn was her only means of escape from that robotic way of life and when he died, that possibility for love outside of career also did. This was obvious in how when he died, she lost interest in love for a long while and directed her complete focus on her career to the point of craziness (ditching funny girl for a failure of a TV show). Her ending up with Jesse (while it was cute and best possible outcome considering and even though he had matured) was kind of the last nail in the coffin for her because what he represented was that continued drive towards career goals as the most important thing (he betrayed her in the first season so he could have success with his Glee club). The only hope I had for her was when she taught the Glee club, I loved watching her watch the Glee club sing and she just had this small, content smile on her face. Like she was finally just enjoying music rather than only enjoying the superiority she felt because she was by far the best. (Or feeling threatened by music if someone else appeared a rivalling talent)
You hit it right on the money😭 i feel like her character was highly misunderstood and when it came to love I felt like the only time she wasn’t trying to be better than everyone else or highly competitive was when she was with Finn
People saying they ruined it by singing this way when Lady Gaga literally has a performance set up similar to this one. I get that we don't fw Lea no more but lying isn't gonna get us anywhere 💀

P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face
I wanna roll with him a hard pair we will be
A little gambling is fun when you're with me,
Russian Roulette is not the same without a gun
And baby when it's love if it ain't rough it isn't fun, fun
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
I'll get him hot, show him what I've got
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
I'll get him hot, show him what I've got
Can't read my, can't read my
No he can't read my poker face
(She's got to love nobody)
Can't read my, can't read my
No he can't read my poker face
(She's got to love nobody)
P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face
P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face
I won't tell you that I love you
Kiss or hug you
'Cause I'm bluffin' with my muffin
I'm not lying I'm just stunnin' with my love-glue-gunning
Just like a chick in the casino
Take your bank before I pay you out
I promise this, I promise this
Check this hand 'cause I am marvelous
I'm marvelous
I'm marvelous
I'm marvelous, oh marvelous
She has got to love nobody
Can't read my, can't read my
She's got to love nobody
Sekar Jepara It is actually p p p p poker face p p p p fuck her face but a lot of people don't notice
I always thought it was chicken instead of chick in LMAOO
This is one of the best Glee covers
The part where Rachel goes “Oh oh oh oh” sounds so much like a different song that I really want to know the name of so if any of y’all know it please tell me 😂!!!
IM TRYING TO FIND IT OUT TOO
Mmmm does the song by any chance have a rapper on it (lil wayne)?
Julia Nichole Yaccarino it’s the melody from Gaga’s acoustic version of Poker Face that Kid Cudi sampled
Lady Gaga-poker face
I hope it's not too late but I think it reminds me of "something big" by shawn mendes, the "oh oh oh" part
It's her Mum! (not in real life). They smashed this for real tho...
They picked the right person to play Rachael's mom💚
You hit it right on the money😭 i feel like her character was highly misunderstood and when it came to love I felt like the only time she wasn’t trying to be better than everyone else or highly competitive was when she was with Finn
this will never NOT be an iconic moment in glee history.
I remember watching frozen for the first time I was like wait a damn minute I know that voice!!!! Idina has such a beautiful strong voice!!!!
These two voices together are phenomenal !!!!
Idina and Lea look like each other they could be mother and daughter in real life too
They sound so good together this is just a mother and daughter heart Touching moment😍❤❤
I’ve not seen a single comment about Rachel’s ‘BANKKKKKK’ 2:50
Just like mama always says, you weren't looking 😂
People saying they ruined it by singing this way when Lady Gaga literally has a performance set up similar to this one. I get that we don't fw Lea no more but lying isn't gonna get us anywhere 💀
This song always makes me cry because of the Rachel's disappointment on her mom 😭
But sadly the Actor of lea is the disappointment
@@demondick I know I just don't want to ruin the character just because the actor is a mess
that note 2:51 RACHEL OMGGG😍
I melt everytime
so fierce
I just love Rachel's voice 2:10 is so sweet and innocent ... So soft! ❤️✨
hands down best glee duet
I absolutely love Idina Menzels voice I could listen all day and night
I love glee sooo much and this was one of my all time favorite covers, mainly cause of originality
J'ADORE!!!!!!!!
un français !!!
this`is marvellous!
2:50 whoa this part was amazing! Rachel may be obnoxious and self centered but she has an amazing voice!
This rendition is soooo good
This is so heartbreaking that their duet started heartwarmingly and Rachel looked hopeless after they finished singing😢
That "he cant read minnnneeeeee" 🙆🏼♀️😊❤
Neither can Lea tbh
Love this version, it's so sweet
Lea’s face is just like WHY DONT YOU LOVE ME MOM OMG it’s sad
For the longest time I thought idina and lea were related
i love this song
One of my favorite songs from glee
best cover ever
I can't get over this song ❤️❤️
It's pretty hard to believe they r not related in real life for they look so much alike.
I am a big fan of glee
I like this so much more than the original.
My favorite duet on the show
This was such a beautiful performance
Lyrics
I wanna hold 'em like they do in Texas, please
Fold 'em, let 'em hit me, raise it, baby, stay with me
Love game intuition, play the cards with spades to start
And after he's been hooked, I'll play the one that's on his heart
Oh, whoa, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
I'll get him hot, show him what I've got
Oh, whoa, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
I'll get him hot, show him what I've got

No, he can't read my poker face
She's got to love nobody
Can't read my, can't read my

This cover was so genius, still can’t get over it at 2020 haha
I'm just obsessed with how they sing the oh oh oh part
