My choir did this song my senior year of high school, we practiced every day, and nothing was more beautiful than losing myself in the ethereal sound of this song. The pandemic hit and schools closed two days before we got to perform this in concert. I come back and listen to it just to close my eyes and pretend I'm back with my choir.
Selected this song for my h.s. choir to sing my last year of directing them before retirement. Whenever I watch Forrest Gump, I have to come back to this video and watch again, and remember those students who sang this so beautifully 6 years ago. Beautiful!
I'm still new to this song, although I've listened to it several times on the Alfred site. Still, there's something about seeing these wonderfully talented, beautifully voiced young people sing off-book with a director who is also off-book. The communication, connection, and respect between the chorus and the director and the wonderfully diverse chorus itself is beyond breath-taking. Congratulations to all involved. You've touched me deeply.
Crimson and coral Sunset falls on Willow Park On this noble tree where you'd climb I see "Jenny" carved into the bark Sable and sapphire Dim the final light of day Laughter seems to float on the breeze Through the willow trees where you used to play In the darkness, in the starlight I hear angels sing your name As they bear you through the heavens Through the light from which you came Quietly the strain falls out of tune Shadows steal across a lonely moon I miss you so Smoky and silver Dawn will soon dissolve the dark Still, one shadow stays in the veil Of the trees in Willow Park As the sunrise drowns the darkness All the angels sing your name And you're flying through the heavens Through the light from which you came Whispers of their song that echo yet Make me glad to know I won't forget My Jenny dear My Jenny dear I love you so Oh, oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh

Wonderful performance. This is now my favourite recording!
during the Remembrance Day ceremony in my gym, the choir sang this song
Crimson and coral
Sunset falls on Willow Park
On this noble tree where you'd climb
I see "Jenny" carved into the bark
Sable and sapphire
Dim the final light of day
Laughter seems to float on the breeze
Through the willow trees where you used to play
In the darkness, in the starlight
I hear angels sing your name
As they bear you through the heavens
Through the light from which you came
Quietly the strain falls out of tune
Shadows steal across a lonely moon
I miss you so
Smoky and silver
Dawn will soon dissolve the dark
Still, one shadow stays in the veil
Of the trees in Willow Park
As the sunrise drowns the darkness
All the angels sing your name
And you're flying through the heavens
Through the light from which you came
Whispers of their song that echo yet
Make me glad to know I won't forget
My Jenny dear
My Jenny dear
I love you so
Oh, oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh
This poignant piece so beautifully expresses my sorrow and grief in having lost my infant daughter.
I’m sorry
