I heard this on the weather channel, at the point it begins is roughly like 1:50 or so in, is where it started when the local forecast came up. Around 93 or so. It's on the 1993 playlists for it. After 23 years I can finally hear the whole song, If only I knew what it was then. I started looking for this in the 90s when the net began, no one was telling until recently. A 20+ year search complete, thankyou.
TWC uses a lot of O'Hearn. Here's all of them I'm aware of by him they have used since 1986 with "At First Light" and "Unusual Climate" 87 Dreams Of A Lifetime Amazon Waltz Ancient Dreams April Fool At First Light Chattahoochee Field Day Downhill Racer Forever The Optimist Glory For Tomorrow Homeward Bound Irene Nepalese Tango Sky Juice Subtle Persuasion The Illusionist Unusual Climate
I agree. With how people share their archived videos of The Weather Channel, and people's memories of identification. Its the best feeling ever when you can find what you've perceived as "lost forever".
TWC used alot of this guys music for their local on the 8s back in the early 90s, until copyright laws forced them to employ Tramell Starks to compose their own music in 1996.
Listened to this while getting my undergrad astronomy degree in the early 90s. I can associate many of Patrick O'Hearn's tracks with specific math / physics problems I was working on at the time.
only O'hearn can take you to the summit, slide you down the hill and drop you into the sea's cold embrace, loose you in a malevolent landscape, wrap you in Delilah's strings. I believe that he is up there along with Vangelis
Everyone who has commented on this...... is my kindred....we can sail, we can dream, we can feel outside of the "BOX"... This is what true "FLOATING" is. Cool to meet all "Y'all " within the song. Thanks Patrick!
"Your Local Radar, showing any Precipitation, and it's movement during the past 90 minutes. Intensity is Indicated by the color code at the Top of the Screen."
I will be sure to get a copy of some of his work to play on my smart phone, to listen to while I'm at the ski hill, I was thinking of doing a ski video with both the Go-Pro, and with the help of a videographer. Cattahoochee Field Day was my first choice for the sound track.
Was in college ('93?) when I first heard this. Liked it so much, I used it on my first demo reel in the videogames industry. Always captivating, always inspiring... Missing Persons was great, but I am eternally grateful you went solo. Patrick, you found your true self and shared it with us.
I finally found it ! The first time I heard this song was in The Endless Summer II movie. I just spent hours checking every single song appearing in The Endless Summer to get here ! Amazing ! :)
my little girl and i love this song so much...we crank it in the minivan and pretend we are skiing down the highway! i emailed patrick o'hearn about it and he kindly replied. he said he wrote it as the soundtrack for some ski movie or documentary but it was not used for the project. he said he saw the director years later who told him he was sorry it was not used but said what a great piece of music it was. we agree! o'hearn's music is also wonderful to make love to...
A real Strong title, deep and fast, full of interesting layer loops in the same time, this is my favourite face of Patrick O'hearn, this one is like a mocie chase, like the sound coming in at 1'51 and the break at 2'58. Cool
I'm so mad that itunes doesn't have the Private music (Eldorado, Indigo, Reunion, Between Two Worlds). **sigh**. The RIAA needs to make all music available.
I just finished an entire mountain run on Steep in under 5 minutes with this playing. I had goosebumps the entire way down, speeding past oceans of trees inches away from my face.
Too bad everyone that ever heard this associate it with weather forecasts rather than affiliating it with Ancient Dreams and the arsenal of Patrick O'Hearn's other masterpieces along with Carlos Alomar and the series that placed them in their respective Genres in the late 80s.
I thank TWC for hooking me up with Patrick O'Hearn music. Perhaps I did make that association in the beginning. but my admiration for his eclectic music has grown over the years far beyond hearing it for the first time on TWC.
I did associate with TWC being avid watcher in 80s to early 90s. Upon hearing song title I could totally see that (though play at 0.5x speed to match my downhill performance lol). Well composed!
i uploaded this song from my Patrick O'Hearn CD in 2009 and there are 100's of other songs from Patrick that were uploaded by other youtube users.. i think if there was a problem they would of been all been taken down...esp since Patrick O'Hearn has commented on some of the songs.. oh well,, be it as you may,, take down on the music and we can watch the how to build a bird house video!
"Now your local forecast, accurate and dependable from The Weather Channel"
January 19 1994. Pittsburgh got cold AF but at least they had sick weather music to keep them going.

@@Coastiestevie I came here from that video
Great track and arrangement. One of O'Hearn's best.
Whenever you heard this song on the local forecast there was always a cold outbreak or a blizzard.
January 19 1994.
Or a reminder to go to that all night rave Friday night !

Life can be so full of beautiful twists and turns!
Absolutely legendary.
What a cool combination. You must've experienced 'the flow state'.
no words can describe how this takes me away...
Another impossible to find song that somebody had the the good taste of uploading. Thanks!

very nice tribute!
One of my favorite pieces!!!!
i agree
Thank you TWC for all of the great music.
One of the best precision driving tunes!
a lot of O'Hearn's music was playing on my car CD players back in the 90's!
first time i heard this song was in 1994, in a movie called The Endless Summer II (ironically)
Patrick O'Hearn since 1985 here
OMG PROTO TRANCE!
Grew up listening to this( I grew up late in my 30’s and 40’s. Still love this road music

Probably the best track of PoH. He wrote many but this one is close to perfection.. I love the sound of the synths. Thanks for putting on UA-cam

The best Weather Channel music ever (starts at possibly at 1:51 )

Childhood memories!! :')
Have LOVED his music for years!
Worked (?) with a local band for years as lightman and basically as a roady but I would have loved to go crazy with lights on this.
Endless Summer II brought me here!
ManyThanx, This SOUNDS BRILLIANT ON MY HIFI MANY THANKS FROM SO CAL!😜🤪👍
Endless Summer 2... in Java with Jerry Lopez and Laird Hamilton !!
great song.
(personal bookmark: 2:26 - 2:55)
This sounds like it could be on Donkey Kong Country
That's the exact thought I had. This song is nostalgic all the way around.

The year is 1994 and you see what the weather is like be going on the weather channel

Sounds like a pretty sick dance tune. Worthy of playing at clubs !
@3:10 the crowd goes fucking nuts

This guy should do an album with Giorgio Moroder 😁👍
Yes!! I was just thinking the same!

Honestly would be nice to eventually cover this track. Good thing I’m a music producer.
not sure i understand your comment?
@@bp996959 Well, I make music. If I were to cover this eventually, there’s a chance I would bring Patrick’s music to new ears.
Just awesome!
I feel like I'm ready to jump into a time machine car and travel through time and dimensions after starting out on a raining open highway in Miami
why dont they have this on itunes... they have alot of his other songs.??
[30 Days Mid-August to Mid-September: Temperature: Above Normal Precipitation: Below Normal.]
Quite a bit different than his work with Zappa. I like it.
This sounds like something from a 90s F1 review
Sir YES SIR!!!!,
Your Local 36 Hour Forecast from the National Weather Service.
M Flavor
It looks like, this theme is quite " iconical" for you ( people from the USA) as " Informe Semanal''s" theme was for us in Spain.
I will like to ride one those i just like something fast
sounds like an exercise montage
Sounds like the inspiration for Sonic CD (US soundtrack).

The Weather Channel had no reason to go this hard
Came for 1:50, but stayed for the whole track, heh.

they probably didnt have FM stations playing "newage" music back in the 80's!
