They deserved it because Starbreeze was the one who decided to dig her own grave, the scandal in Sweden together with a game made purely for money without any big quality and a lot of mistakes (TWD) was a shot in their own face. The only thing that makes them survive, and I say survive as an eufemism, is Payday 2, even though the game itself has been going through big problems, and what Overkill decided to do? Launch another game with every DLC included. Fucking genius, seriously.

If the lab is down, plank placement doesn't really matters as long as you've put some. They mostly aren't for active protection, but actually for visual protection. Because they block snipers and ground swats from seeing you, the sniper/swats won't shoot you, leaving you peacefully making meth.
Well, at least planks are useful for that side room in Rats Day 1/Cook Off as it'll prevent some cops from spawning there through the window during assault breaks.
it's good on lab rat for farming killing spree or ovk farm solo if u use sentry build prevent annoying cops and restrict cops some direction and you just reload your ap sentry and you can take a rest
Also don't forget that planks will help other people not detect anything on the other side in stealth too. Not sure if it applies to any broken windows but yeah.

And by then, it's already a bit late for using planks since people are aware of it).

And that's it ladies and gentlemen, you put em down and then they're gone, and you can't put them up again.
