Years ago, in Birmingham, Alabama of all places, the great Agnes de Mille came and choreographed Oklahoma for The Little Theater, a community theater with a lot of talent.

R&H loved inserting dream scenes into their musicals ; I like them but can understand why they would not appeal to everyone.

Who created the score? Is this done by Trude Ritman, who usually did the dance music in R&H shows? this is certainly different music than is heard, for instance, in the Film.

This is a whole different dream ballet sequence, but a good one.
Their director (and/or producer) must've wanted something new.

Oklahoma was created in the darkest days of WWII. Americans looked to the Heartland, their Midwest, to rekindle a belief in the basic strength and willfulness of its rural roots. The brand new battleships Missouri, Iowa and Wisconsin would also be named for heartland states. Hitler and Tojo had sewn the wind. Very soon, they would reap the whirlwind as the United States would salute its core values, looking within, and then turn to wage colossal war on its foes. Yes, Oklahoma was part of it.
