This is how my hair looks with no product, brushed out and air dried. I can’t believe I’ve finally found someone with my hair texture. I’m closer to 30 and only now learning to care for my natural waves because I’ve had a baby girl in the last year. If she ends up with my waves, I want to teach her to love her natural hair the way my mother never showed me. Thank you for your content.
If you wanna try this again try either mixing oil into your cream/leave in or put a few drops of oil after you put on your cream. This routine seems to focus on moisture so I find also deep conditioning also kinda weighs the frizz down a bit more. (Great for winter as well.) It's also a great base for heatless styles. Although not everyone's hair type likes oil. But I do find its not as greasy when applied to wet hair vs damp.
Maybe also try doing french braid on damp hair if you want to experiment with consistent wave pattern and sleekness.
Whenever I do this I usually put my leave in on soaking wet hair and then the hold product (usually a foam because easy distribution) on damp hair after towel drying. Ill just spritz my ends with a bit more water since they dry so much quicker than my roots. (My hair is around the same length as yours.) I do mildy scrunch just to get a more consistent wave pattern.
This routine for me is also a lot less stressful and time consuming because of the shorter dry time. Hope this helps a bit!
I’ve been experimenting with other no scrunching and really liking it. I’ve just been using leave in and and oil, my waves are on the tighter side, closer to loose curls.
It definitely has been drying faster. Going to try with the JVN next time, thanks!!
Whoa!! I just tried refreshing with this method this morning by adding water to my hair and it turned out so nice!!! LOVE IT!!! I am excited to try it on freshly washed/styled hair. Thank you for sharing this as it is going to be a game changer for me on refresh days. Saves so much time and doesn't make as much of a mess as scrunching. This also showed me just how wavy my hair gets on it's own as it air dries straight with some product to help control it a bit.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience and results! I’ll definitely keep experimenting 😊
Glad to know it’s not just me that ends up with frizz after wash day. It drives me nuts!
Your hair is so long! Appreciate your insights!
I apply oil to my hair before putting on any leave-ins and stylers. I actually have done this for years because I never liked how my hair looked applying oil to dried hair and this was before I discovered my hair was wavy back in July of 2023. Curious if you ever tried this to see if it helps reduce frizz a bit more. I suppose the only downfall is that maybe the oil will impact moisturizing leave-ins from absorbing into the hair, but I always do masks weekly so it never was a big concern of mine. I am going to also try this method sometime, but my hair actually looks similar to what you have going on though a bit more straighter if I don't use any stylers and just blow dry it (experience no frizz as well). Maybe my hair blow dries this way still from years of not treating it as wavy. It has been a bit annoying to manage lately as it doesn't want to look as nice as it use to with prior products and I think it is due to it being winter time. Hoping a haircut next week helps a bit.
Yes, I think adding more gel would be a great way to try it a second time. In the past, I've used the same gel, sectioned my hair so I get enough product in my top layers and I noticed it helps to smooth down the hair more. Curious if you've experimented any more?
I will try this next wash day. I definitely do not like how long it takes for my hair to dry, especially during the colder months. And sometimes I just get too impatient, even to diffuse to dry.
Definitely! I’m the same way it gets annoying 😓
Did you use a single dalop of JVN of was it a dalop on each side?
Also have you tried the Aveda Nutiplenish gelee?
Can u do a comparison with different leave ins but same stylers. I want to see the impact of leave ins that contribute to the end results. 🎉
I’m too scared to try this ha. Also, you’re very pretty 😊
💕💕
Try putting it behind your ears too! I think it can create a nice uniform bend! And yes I would second using a tad bit more product! Sleeping on it also does wonders in my opinion
I just saw your hair chopping video from long to short bob and your hair is long again now 😂 time flies!! Looks so good right now tho
