    Hello! What's the difference between a full mouth debridement and gross debridement?

    Just came across your channel from SmileWithCallie on Instagram! I'm SO HAPPY I did! I just finished my first year in Dental Hygiene School and I'm watching all of your hygiene videos. They are extremely helpful, and I will definitely be watching these in the future as well. Thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos! You're amazing.

    Great video! Thanks so much for all the questions. I just graduated from hygiene school and entered the field in August. I definitely wish I would have come across this video before my first few interviews! It can be overwhelming to know where to even begin as far as asking potential employers questions. This helped so much! :)

    For the office to pay to renew the license is a wild one😂😂 I wrote everything else down, but this ☝️ I would not recommend. You might as well ask them to pay your phone bill. Respect for offices that do it. Binge watching all her videos.

      oooo yes I agree! I personally would never ask myself but I do know of a girl under contract with an office who has her license paid for by them while she's there! Thanks so much for watching, glad you enjoyed this one for the most part haha! :)

    What does help with a cavitron look like? You'd ideally want someone suctioning for you?

    • @RachelGreene
      @RachelGreene  5 років тому

      That would be wonderful especially on more difficult patients but I personally have never had someone assist me with it except while in clinic in college!

    I'm going to be interviewing a hygienist for a project, do you have any question suggestions?

    Wow, that was a lot to take in! Haha. Great information !
    I have a few questions for you -
    I am a 33 year old straight male & have really become interested in this field of work in the last month. I only say that i'm straight because i have heard that the stereotype of male hygienists is that they are homosexual. After high school i started working & have been for the past 15 years, no college. I have been thinking about starting up at the community college near my house that has an accredited Dental Hygiene program. I was an average student in HS ( A's & B's) & got the appropriate ACT score to get into the program but i feel like i've been out of school for so long that i have forgotten a lot of the basic subject material needed for a higher education. What are your thoughts on this situation? Do you think my age will hold me back considering after taking my prereqs & finishing the program i would be probably nearing 36 or 37? Also what are your thoughts on males in the profession & what do you think others perception of males in the profession are? Thanks for the videos & all the great info you provide!
    -Ray

      Well first of all I think that is awesome, I wish we had a more gender neutral feel to our profession! It may make it harder with having such a large gap since you've been in school yes, but I think you can do anything you set your mind too. As long as you take it serious and make it a priority to study and really understand what you're learning you will be fine. If this makes you feel better I had a handful of people in my class who were in their late 40's and 50's - it's never too late! Some people are hesitant with males and don't warm up to them as well as females, I can say I have heard that before. I have also heard that some patients just assume you are the dentist so they're not so quick to judge. However, like I said I wish it wasn't a "big deal" I wish it was just as "normal" to people as going in and having a female do it. You should go for it, don't worry about your gender! You're welcome, I am glad you enjoy them, let me know how else I can help you! :)

      @@RachelGreene I think i'll probably end up in remedial classes because it's been so long since I have been in school. I was looking over some practice placement tests and i seem to have forgotten a lot Haha. I took the ACT in high school and scored average scores but i think where it's been so long, those scores probably don't mean much anymore. I'll do what i have to do i suppose :) Thanks so much for your reply!

      Raymond Sparks Hey there! Your comment caught my attention. I am a 30 year old female who just started my pre reqs for dental hygiene. In high school I did NOT make all As and Bs. The years have passed since I graduated from high school and I feared having to take remedial classes in college. What I did is I took practice placement tests, specially the math test, and what I did not know I searched on UA-cam and learned that way. When I took my placement test, to my surprise, no remedial classes! So I went straight to taking college level courses. Even then, I was afraid of not being able to pass my classes.... but determination has pulled me through. I have gotten As in all my classes so far (I was NOT and A and B student in high school). So you can do this! And who cares that you are a male! Dental Hygiene is not just for females. Wish you the best of luck!

    When you say, “help with the cavitron" you just mean someone suctioning for you, right?

    I like all of these questions. I wonder why though, is it necessary to have the music in the background so loud. I find it very distracting and unnecessary. It's not just your video, it a lot of them on You tube.

      Hi Lisa! I'm glad you found the questions helpful! When I used my old editing software it was always louder once I saved and published the video than it sounded when I was editing the videos. I haven't used this editing software in a long time and have since changed for this and many other reasons! :)
