Fun fact: the actor who played Toad, Ray Park, was also the physical actor for Darth Maul in Star Wars Episode I as well as Snake Eyes in the G.I. Joe movies. And 20+ years later, he still has the moves he did as both Toad and Darth Maul. Also, Rogue actually does wear a special body suit in the comics. I'm surprised you said that, not having read the comics. Another cool fact: when Bobby walks by the elevator just before Mystique walks out disguised as Bobby, it's not a movie magic trick. It's actually Shawn Ashmore(Bobby/Iceman)'s identical twin brother Aaron Ashmore who is also an accomplished actor.

In this movie Wolverine isn't too small, he's actually too big. The real Wolverine is about a foot shorter than Hugh Jackman. A wolverine is half the size of a bear, but more ferocious. His healing factor isn't his only mutant ability, he also has heightened senses which is how he could smell that it wasn't really Storm. Rogue is actually way more badass in the comics, and Storm was not an original X-men as the professor states in this movie, that would be Jean, Cyclops, Beast, Angel, and Iceman. They messed up a lot of canon in these movies.

And instead of being a Hugh Jackman-esque pretty boy, comic book Wolverine is actually really gross and irritating. For a guy with a superhuman sense of smell, he seems pretty oblivious to how all that cheap cigar smoke, stale beer, and general road-wear probably lingers on that shag carpet that he calls body hair. And on a typical day, the only X-Men who like being around him are teenage girls with daddy issues (Kitty, Jubilee, Rogue).

Hugh Jackman actually got cast really late (because he wasn't the first guy they cast as Wolverine, another actor was originally cast and that actor played the main bad guy in the second Mission Impossible movie and that movie ran over its shooting schedule and Hugh ultimately replaced him), and wasn't able to get into real shape until mid-way into shooting. Rouges powers also extend to absorbing someone's skills, abilities and memories. So Jackman was cast in his place, but it was rather late in preproduction and he had little time to train for that Wolverine physique before filming began. Here's the thing, Wolverine may be the most popular, but for the most part, the X-Men have always been Cyclops' team. Scott was Xavier's prize student and his first recruit to the original team of X-Men from the 1960s, which did not include Storm, Rogue, or even Wolverine. Cyclops may have had the worst power out of that group (uncontrollably shooting a death ray from his eyeballs that can shatter mountains), and he tends to be kind of a pill, but he's had the most training in working with mutant powers and he's been leading the X-Men since he was a teenager.
Cyclops and Wolverine have been butting heads ever since Wolverine joined the X-Men in the 1970s, and with Wolverine's overall badass ronin/cowboy vibe and spot of badly written character arcs for Cyclops, guess who ultimately became more popular?
I am a solid Cyclops-anti and Wolverine stan, and I will admit that Cyclops' portrayal was not done well in live-action. You will see.
    Great reaction!

They don't really emphasize on it as much in these movies, but Wolverine has a heightened sense of smell, and that's how he can always know when there's some kind of danger nearby. That's how he's able to tell when Sabertooth or Mystique are around, he can smell them.

At the 6:39 point of this video. That is not Hugh Jackman's actual hand. That is why it is zoomed in on in the movie. Oh yea it was revealed not that long ago that Janet Jackson was originally suppose to be Storm but had to turn it down because of a tour. The X-Men Mansion in this one was in Toronto but the X-Men Mansion in Deadpool 1, 2 and X-Men 2, 3 were done in Vancouver.

In the movies Rogue doesn't keep the powers when she touches mutants. In the comics she does which puts her on her own level. Though she is also an adult there.

I think the reason why Hugh Jackman wasn't as muscular as he is in the later movies. Is because he wasn't originally cast as Wolverine. The original actor was Dougray Scott. But he passed on it to play the villain in Mission Impossible 2. So I think they had to replace him very quickly. So Hugh Jackman replaced him, and the rest is history.

I agree with you: Mystique, played by Rebecca Romijn in makeup, is off-the-charts in hotness! (There are DVD film extras that can be dialed up on UA-cam, that show her in various stages of applying the Mystique makeup - worth watching.) Every actress brings a different 'package' to the table. Jennifer Lawrence did what she could, and she's not •bad• in the role, but she was never a supermodel (nor pretended to be). The Romijn 'spark' just wasn't there. That said, Mystique is an inherently interesting character.
    ••••
As others have mentioned, Wolverine has heightened senses, and can differentiate people (partly) by their smell. On the flip side, Mystique can imitate other people so perfectly that her false "Charles Xavier eyes" could fool the security scanning device at the vault door in the Mansion that was guarding Cerebro. Is Mystique like John Carpenter's 'The Thing,' in that she "...imitates other life forms, and imitates them perfectly"? If so, Mystique would have also duplicated Storm's scent. The film doesn't absolutely spell out how Logan was able to tell it wasn't the real Storm; it COULD HAVE BEEN a small scent difference that Mystique failed to properly mask, or it could have been something else - some other clue that perhaps even Logan himself wouldn't be able to articulate if asked. (Intuition? Logan DID tell Rogue before, to •trust her instincts•. Maybe that's what he was doing when differentiating Mystique from the real Storm.)
    ••••
They ended up making three different Wolverine stand-alone films. The first two, were mediocre. The final one, 'Logan', hit it out of the park. But, to fully appreciate 'Logan' the other films should be watched first (preferably, in release order). Part of Wolverine's appeal, is that (at first) WE don't know his past (and neither does he). HE is not comfortable with who he is (his own dark, violent side). Was he evil (or 'an animal') in his former life... or do others merely describe him that way, to serve their own interests? The Wolverine in these connected films, is slowly revealed, so that, when 'Logan' finally occurs, we have a very clear picture of who he is.
