I truly believe this is what angels sound like when they sing.
Abba gave the rights to this song to UNICEF and has since generated many millions of dollars for children in need around the world. I wish every successful singer did the same.
Grandma and grandpa already knew what was good.
It's nice that people like you make sure she isn't forgotten.
Man, it`s Abba. Abba is HUGE!
second-most successful band after the Beatles in history (and 4th of all artists in the world). They are really special!! There is a lot more to listen to and every hit or album song is unique (they had 22 hits but they could have had much more if they decided to bring out the album tracks or B sides as a single
My all time favorite ABBA song. Magically done. MASTER Musicians🎼🎼🎼
This piece of music is truly a symphony.
Along with Super Trouper, their most harmonic tune.
Love this, my favorite ABBA song. Brings smile every time.
This song was about an underprivileged little girl, the lyrics are so powerful that ABBA gave the copyright of this song to UNICEF. Because of its Spanish version , it became a huge hit in the spanish speaking world at the time. BTW “ Chiquitita” means “ little girl” in Spanish
Abba just pure greatness
Thank you. Finally someone acknowledges the Spanish music influences on ABBA.
Lush. Rich. Harmonious. ABBA.
Yes, little girl. "Ito" or "ita" usually signifying little in Spanish masculine and feminine. If I call myself Carlito, I am little Chuck or Carlos in Español.
Noboby ever says this but it is powerful, the influence of latin music, spanish in particular, in many ABBA songs. Re: Fernando por ejemplo.
I hope you react to "Fernando" and "Take a Chance in Me". I love ABBA. THANKS!🥰
Wow! Chiquitita is Spanish and means Little Girl.
ABBA donated all future royalties from this song to the United Nations Children's Fund Unicef, which has generated many millions to the Children's Fund.
Tanks for another great reaction Harri!
Actually half the royalties. It's now over 4 million USD.
@@erik.... Hello Erik! it's true what you say but in 2014 all the members of ABBA decided to donate all future royalties from the song to UNICEF.
I'm sure that Bjorn once said in an interview that chiguitita is Spanish for little one? can anyone else verify this.
@@jamesleogue9564 Yes, it means little one, and also very small/tiny (in the feminine grammatical gender). In this case it obviously refers to a person so it would be "little one" and it's used as a term of affection most likely for a little girl, though it could be used for a younger female friend or loved one.
👍Thanks

Winner Takes it All..vevo, Knowing Me Knowing You
I HAVE A DREAM is another beautiful song.
I can't listen to that song without wanting to cry. It was one of my mom's favorites and gave her hope during some of her darkest days.
Abba has got a lot more great songs you need to listen to
Welcome to the ABBA club.
I just LOVE your reactions - a new fan!
Abba was one of the greatest music groups in Europe . they were in the peak of their fame in the seventies . They started their career when they won a big music competition with their song ( Waterloo ) . they have many hits such as ( Dancing Queen , The winner takes it all , Fernando , The day before you came )
Im gonna do more Abba reactons..beautiful group
They were one of the greatest groups in music history . They were on the peak of fame in the seventies . Harri please react to Demis Roussos ( winter rains ) . you will find out a great artist with his golden voice , you will love his voice , and his music legacy . Best wishes dude . Good bless you
My best Abba song of all.
chrismas is the most sad moment of the years for all people alone and their is a lot !
At the time of this song Anna and Bjorn where in the middle of divorcing (the couple to the right of the screen). This would lead to some amazing songs that followed especially “The Winner Takes It All” the lyrics written by Bjorn and then sang by his ex wife Agnetha it is a masterpiece and has been voted in the UK as ABBA’s best song
Sadness is universal and doesn't have seasons. While this song was released there was a breakup and another was to follow.. sometimes it goes deeper than what we think. It isn't Chiquita. It is Chiquitita. You might enjoy reading about these fascinating people.
Hi Harri. Only knew ABBA on the radio at the time their songs were released. Liked the songs and kind've took them for granted. Knew they were Swedish, and from a couple of pictures in magazines that the group was two guys and two girls, and that's about it. When MuchMusic started in Canada in 1984, they played videos, but it was after ABBA's time, so didn't see them there. Did see an ABBA Special on TV and went WOW! The arrival of the internet has allowed me to see their videos and really appreciate just how great they were. Now, I find watching any of their videos to be very relaxing.
Brilliant and epic song - love their music 4ever. Greets from germany.
good reaction, I had texted a Spanish friend of mine and she told me chiquitita is a generic name for a young girl, kind of like we would say "sweetie", I'm quite sure Benny is not playing a piano here but an instrument called a harpsichord which plucks the strings rather than hits them to get that unique sound, have a good day, all the best
ABBA is the only group that I can always count on to be uplifted by. Even the moody stuff just always makes me feel better. I listen and like all kinds of music but ABBA is special. Hope you find them the same.
Yep..Abba makes a sad song sound so sweet 🤣😂🤣😂
When you describe their singing to heavenly singing, I imagined that Agnetha = Angel who sees and knows Chiquitita is her Angel who was sent to encourage and help Chquitita. BTW: „Chiquitita" (a Spanish term of endearment for a woman meaning "little one").
This is my fav....snowman version
I believe it was 2000 when they were offered $1 billion to reunite for a one year concert tour. They unanimously turned it down because they didn’t want to travel around the world again and have to deal with everything involved in a tour. In hindsight, they could have done a one time live concert on pay per view and made almost as much in the PPV and dvd sales.
Harry, I loved your video! I love ABBA. There are no bad versions of this song. Always moved by the harmonies. I would really love to know your reaction to this version of the song:
Sweet ABBA cover, Chiquitita! By Annalie Johnson of One Voice Children's Choir and her sister Abby
summer night city and hole in your soul
My favorite ABBA song. Grabs my heart.
In Spanish, a noun ending with o is male and ending with a is female. There may be exceptions, but it's a good rule of thumb, and is true for Chiquitita. a suffix ita or ito is appended to mean 'little'. Chica is woman, and I'd imagine the English expression chicks, from the 1960s, is derivative of Spanish.
ABBA has many good songs. This is hands down my favorite.
best regards from Argentina
(, I'm using Google translator)
congratulations on your reaction to "Chiquitita"
(in English it would be like "little girl")
maybe my comparison is not adequate, but the spirit of the song resembles that of "Hey Jude" by THE BEATLES
They are songs that start almost sad but gain strength and leave a message of hope
the beauty of "Chiquitita" is remarkable:
A captivating piano melody accompanies blonde Agnetha's deep opening solo
then the perfect harmony of voices and a powerful and joyous chorus
and a beautiful ending of soft vocals and a luxurious instrumental solo
Oh thanx..i wasn't sure if Chiquitita was a boy or a girl 😀..Cant understand how a sad song can give such a good feeling😀Beautiful

It will be due to its Nordic nature and its suffering geography that this Swedish group knew how to combine lyrics of pain, breaks and suffering with beautiful and unforgettable melodies, some of them incredibly catchy.
the best example:
"The winner takes it all"
composed by guitarist Björn in 1980 (post divorce) and sung by his ex-wife Agnetha

other examples:
Knowing me knowing you
When all is said and done
I like how you enjoy ABBA
GOD bless you
If it Wasn't for the Nights Is another Good song
My fav ABBA song. Probably.
Harry; keep their song "Happy new year" for new years. Love from Sweden.
Thanx i will..Been to Sweden twice..Love the place😀
I give you some information about the video and the context of the song
This video is from February 1979, taking advantage of an ABBA visit to Switzerland for a TV special
earlier, at the end of 1978, ABBA received an invitation to participate with a song from the Concert for Unicef on the occasion of the International Year of the Child (with 10 other world artists)
ABBA specially composed "Chiquitita" and it premiered there at the United Nations, in January 1979: ua-cam.com/video/0ETYA9EqZmA/v-deo.html
(the rights to the song were donated to Unicef)
Between both dates there is a separation between the guitarist Björn Ulvaeus and the blonde singer Agnetha Fälkstog
(they recorded it as a couple and performed it already separately)
but they just made it public on this visit to Switzerland
Just how the lyrics of the song say, Agnetha tries to hide the pain she feels with an emotional and beautiful interpretation
Fantastic..i thought it was released around xmas cos of the video
Great reaction, you understand the magic of ABBA, by all respect, the song is called: CHI - QUI - TI - TA (span.: little girl),
not CHI - QUI-TA (that's Bananas)😀, love you reactions, hope for more ABBA, best to you, Harri!
Hahahaha Harri is bananas...but thanx a lot..i have learnt two Spanish words from you🤩
Banana in Spanish is "guineo".
This is my favorite ABBA song, even more so than "Dancing Queen." Nice and insightful reaction! When we have a bad turn of luck, we need to try and turn things around and sing a new song of hope for the future.
You are really good my friend and I will follow you .
Summer night city is good
I will check it out
As good as new, gimma gimma gimma man after midnight, happy new year, and more.
Happy new year!
Something that I find fascinating about reactions to this song is that quite a few reactors mispronounce the name "Chiquitita" at the beginning of the video and then continue to mispronounce it throughout the entire reaction even after hearing ABBA give the correct pronunciation over and over throughout the song. You are not the only one who has done this. Just in case you haven't figured it out yet, it is NOT pronounced Chi key ta (Chiquita is a brand of banana), it is Chic a tea ta (Chi qui ti ta). :-)
Other than that, nice reaction.
Nice reaction. Please more ABBA
You said everything. Beautiful and talented girls with gifted composers as husbands. Like you comments.
Merry Xmas from France!
Thank you so much!
Piano line in the 1st part is absolutely sick. Please, try the highly depressive I'M A MARIONETTE, or the highly hot (not in some people's opinnion), The Tiger!!!
She's [the character in the song] got some deep young girl's blues; it does not mean she is in anguish...
You also can try I had a dream, the king has lost his crown, volvous.
Knowing me knowing you is in my opinion their very very best
Best part of the song IMHO is the piano solo at the end of the song.
ok.. that seems a bit limited..but, oh well...
try Andante Andante with Frida on lead, Agnetha on lead with this and see the difference in vocals but both superb
Benny Andersson "playing" a Fender Rhodes as if it was a grand piano...
Sometimes their videos are just a tad *too* cheesy :D
//A Swede (that grew up with them).
Chiquita means little one in the feminine.
aga needs her sunnies on she gona get snow blindness!, vocals r so gd n vos harmonies-yes!. well i guess u cope by writing songs about em haha!. wish i had that problem sigh!
We lost Ola Brunkert (usual drummer) in 2008.
fuc...g genius
746 right hand side a child running
Chiquitita is "little girl" in Spanish
React to The Piper and As good as new
"Chiquita" is a banana brand, the song is "Chi-qui-ti-ta". An even littler girl.
Yes and no; since, as you stated, Chiquita is a brand as well as a small girl.
Btw; Chiquita, can be littler, but it can also just mean, cuter, or a more verbally caressive way of addressing a [little girl] Chiquita.
😎👍🎶
Not Chiquita, that's an appealing banana, Chi-qui-ti-ta, means little Chiquita in spanish lingo, that's a appealing ABBA song. 2:05
Funny that it says UMG is recommending "The Cardigans - Lovefool" in the description. Sure, it's a swedish group too but nothing like this. :)
What description Erik?
@@HarriBestReactions Below the video.
Idk if they'll ever reunite. Agnetha felt hurt by the other 3 ABBA members.
Not true
What makes Chiquitita sad? Maybe military dictatorship in her country. The people I know in Thailand now, 2021, are likewise depressed/oppressed.
At 7:47 I see a child come from the right, behind Bjorn and Agnetha (blondes) toward the snowman. Do you see it?
Usually Spanish ending in an "a" is female.
"Chiquitita" has one more syllable. It's [Chiqui "ti" ta] ◙◙◙ 8:57 "Chiquitida" is supposed to be a girl, because it ends with 'a". It's a rule. Though this rule is full of exceptions.
People seem to have such a limited emotional palette.... my god, why are ''happy or sad, or happy AND sad''; pretty much the only choice for so many young people, especially.
feminine name, otherwise I guess it'd be chiquitito.
Hey. Suggestion?
Shirley Bassey - Diamonds are Forever.
Btw appreciate you not in our grille. (i know i shouldn't say that, normally. apologies. but here, it's kinda business related huh?)
That blonde will make a person blind and her voice will ruin your hearing.
You cope with two beutifull laidies in the band asking them to marry.. so they did..))
hahahahah smart guys
A Boy would be....... Chiquito and Chiquitito ...... You would only use this on a baby, or a young male child, however; unless, you were being playful with a familiar person; as these names would be perceived as suitable for a sissy in a male who is older than about 10, I'd say. No hard rule, obviously.
Thsnx for the lesson😀
Yep, I'm the dislike guy. F-word'ing don't put "reaction" in the title if you are purposely going to fail at it. The word to use is "commentary" or "my thoughts and feelings are more important than sharing a song together with my viewers, because f them"
Grandma and grandpa already knew what was good.
It's nice that people like you make sure she isn't forgotten.
