A major issue today is the influence of freemixing and the spread of liberal ideologies within Western interpretations of Islam. Institutions like Al-Maghrib and figures such as YQ and OS have been called out for promoting a more liberal version of Islam, and now we see them making public statements like, "We never allow ourselves to be alone with women," as if to distance themselves from their previous stance. This shift highlights why traditional madrassa settings are so strict about interactions between males and females. They typically enforce complete separation, or in some cases, they avoid such mixed settings altogether. While it’s true that incidents of abuse, including pedophilia, have occurred in madrassas, it’s important to note that such issues are not unique to Islamic institutions. Abuse can happen in any sector-corporate, educational, or otherwise. The key is to ensure proper safeguards and accountability, not to dismiss or overlook the larger problem.
It was not your goal that this celebrity culture started being, but the way of scholars is to not be rude when someone comes to get an autograph, but to tell them this is not necessary and to reiterate to them that you are just a man and that you make mistakes and downplay this culture and actually warn your followers to stop this as it causes fitnah for those Imams that are being put on a station that they certainly have not reached, its called humbleness and humility and protecting oneself from u'jub. That is the way of the true scholars of our deen
Jabir ibn Abdullah reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever has faith in Allah and the Last Day, let him not be secluded with an unrelated woman without her guardian lest Satan be the third of them.” Source: Musnad Aḥmad 14651 Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to Al-Albani
Educate women to be more informed and engaged with the world. Mosques should offer programs to help them. Encourage diverse interests beyond domestic roles. Action is needed, not just preaching.
Someone lived in ignoracne and sin, then made tawba and started teaching and preaching, this is one thing and someone doing those haram while preacing/educating is not the same, not matter wheather he repented and moved on. Doing a sin on a reglar basis while preaching is much worse, he is betraying muslims, destroying their trust on scholars, which eventually turn against islam. Personal influence works, a lot of people came towards islam just because they were influenced by the personality Sh, Yasir Qadhi or Sh. Omar Sulleiman. Same way a preacher can push them away from Islam. Following knowledge, not the scholar, doesn't work for everyone.
@yasirqadhi … I think all imams themselves need renewal of their imamships. There shud b a system that determines an individual is mentally fit for being an imam and that shud be re-tested by the system on regular basis.
SubhanAllah, for one of the best things you can do to turn into one of the worst things you can do…it makes me want to throw up. I’ve spoken with my husband about how uncomfortable I get when the men running Ramadan discussions and whatnot act playful and jokey during their talks. There is some celebrity about them, and there are so many women’s eyes on them. It’s simply not appropriate, and they need to keep the jokes within their in-person, men-only circles. The knowledge they share is very beneficial, but I don’t appreciate the lightheartedness that is over-appreciate by the audience and attracts people in a way that is just not right. Keep it serious. This is an entirely different issue, but they both share the fact that these teachers have power, and they need to use it appropriately. Also, let’s not pretend like there is no middle ground between rudeness and perpetuating this celebrity culture around our teachers. It is perfectly fine to verbalize love and care toward your brothers in islam and your respect for your brothers and sisters in Islam while refusing all photographs. If this had been done in the beginning, this culture wouldn’t be as bad as it is now. When Dr. O. Suleiman came to our town, I was grossed out to see how it was practically a wedding with all the fancy clothes, and people actually stood outside chatting while he spoke but returned at the end to take pics with him. WHAT IS THIS? Absolutely ridiculous. And I’m hearing that you don’t want to refuse the children, but these are the ones who NEED to be protected! You see who the victim was in this case! A child! They need to learn from a young age that our teachers are to be respected for the knowledge and listened to, not turned into celebrities. And if there’s a secret marriage while the man has another wife, I’m def telling the first wife, because it affects her.
If the first wife did her job and fulfilled her rights towards the poor husband, he wouldn't have to seek a second wife. Men have needs. If you women are going to neglect those needs, then it's better for certain women to remain single.
As Salaamu 3laykum, I am ashamed on those Muslims blaming Wisam Sharieff right away. Let us listen to his side of what happened. There have been people who are put in jail who are innocent. Furthermore, Al-Bayhaqi reported: Ja’far ibn Muhammad, may Allah have mercy on him, said, “If you hear something from your brother that you reject, make an excuse for him up to seventy excuses. If you cannot do it, then say: Perhaps he has an excuse I do not know.” (Source: Shu’ab al-Imān 7853). We need to be 100% sure before blaming anyone. This happened during the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) life against Aisha (Peace and Blessings Be Upon Her). My request is wait until all the evidence from both sides comes forth. And let's say if he did what he did then we make dua for ourselves first and we pray for him. Look at ourselves first before pointing fingers at others.
Imams are also humanbeings. Unfortunately, in many cultures any person who is either working for mosques or has religious duties, they think that they are perfect humans, they cannot get divorce, they cannot propose. In Islam , it is the opposite, they are like the rest of the humans , and have the same emotions. As long they do the things under Islamic guidelines , it is okay. We as a community need to be less judgmental.
Love with the scholar and pious is only for the sake of Allah. Knowledge and piety are a bounty from Allah SWT therefore scholars and piousness are accountable for the IQ and skills.
Shaykh Yasir, I have a genuine question. Isn’t it better to not open the middle/gray door? At what point will secret marriages be problematic? 3,4,5, 10? At the workplace, we have trainings on sexual harassment and not having romantic relationships at the workplace, esp between bosses n employees. An imam should treat his community like a workplace. When young daughters or vulnerable women come for counseling, same power dynamic as a boss and employee. As a member of a community, how do we know what the intentions are of the imam. this IS spiritual abuse…
“The people are fallible, but the deen is infallible, the instruments are fallible but what is taught is infallible.” “The fall of the preacher should not lead to what the preacher preached” Poignantly stated.
Satan Said, "I will Surely Mislead them All," and so he Says that there is No Hell and No Devil But God Said, "I will Surely Fill Hell with you, O Iblees, and those of them that Follow you All Together" 43:62, Qur'an [So] never let Satan avert you. Indeed, he is a clear enemy to you - 2 Nephi 28:22, Torah [For Satan] whispers in their ears and tells them there is no Hell; and he says to them, "I am no devil, for there is none." 36:62, Qur'an And he had already led astray much of creation from among you, so did you not use reason? 15:39 - 40, Qur'an [For Iblees] said, "My Lord, because You have made me err, I will surely make [disobedience] attractive to them on earth, and I will mislead them all, except Your chosen servants among them." 38:84, Qur'an [So God] said, "The truth [is My oath], and the truth I say - Isaiah 14:15, Torah [That] you [O Lucifer] will be brought down to Hell, to the sides of the pit. 38:85, Qur'an [And thus,] I will surely fill Hell with you, and those of them that follow you all together."
Celebrity sheikh criticism is somewhat valid , but as a young practicing muslim , i can tell you so so so many times , the miracle of a video popping up just exactly when i need it and its from nouman ali khan or omar suleiman or yasir qadhi , mufti menk If you see the organized playlist of these celebrity scholars , you will see so much khayr in them
@fluffymountains appreciate that but it's more about the fact that our community brushes this under the carpet. It needs to be said clearly, no excuses, and such devils ostracised from our midst.
It’s amazing to talk about sin against Allah when real harm is being done to a young girl, and she is being exploited. Mastering the Quran and following ritual didn’t help him be a better human being, and not exploit others. Perhaps part of the reason is the extreme gender segregation that creates a pathological society where some act out in this way!
Satan is the human's ardent enemy: [Quran 2:208] O you who believe, you shall embrace total submission; do not follow the steps of Satan, for he is your most ardent enemy. The word "devil" is mentioned 88 times in the Quran. The term shayṭān is more common than the name Iblis, which is used 11 times in the Quran. The story of Iblis is spread throughout the Quran, and is mainly about his refusal to bow down before Adam as commanded by God. The Quran also mentions shayāṭīn, which are equally hostile to God's order as shayṭān. Shayāṭīn are mentioned as often as angels. Some of the things they do include: Teaching sorcery to humans Instigating their friends to argue with the faithful Making evil suggestions to humans and jinn Secretly listening to the angels' council
Yasir Qadhi if imam Yasir secretly married your daughter without you knowing for a weekend how would you feel? Do not downplay secret marriages and their harm.
Surely ˹for˺ Muslim men and women, believing men and women,1 devout men and women, truthful men and women, patient men and women, humble men and women, charitable men and women, fasting men and women, men and women who guard their chastity, and men and women who remember Allah often-for ˹all of˺ them Allah has prepared forgiveness and a great reward.
Please take seriously the free mixing at ISNA and such gatherings. You have to admit that one is astonished to see girls and boys with outrageous dressing intermingling.
Shaykh. You should teach the people the incontrovertible evidence for why Islam is true that Allah taught the Prophet ﷺ in the Quran so they can own their Imaan and then the actions and bad choices of others will no longer affect them. Because isn’t it true that Allah Most High commanded his Prophet ﷺ to guide people to use their minds and come to their own independent realization that Islam is true?
Why are you calling it spiritual abuse? Call it what it is “sexual abuse “. Sorry disappointed. You’re doing damage control. You need to have a more open discussion and provide safety protocols and CHANGES to make sure this does not happen again. Plus a child was involved… you need to address the criminal behavior … why are you not discussing this directly openly
The main point here is that the person abused his ' religious' status to conduct sexual abuse. Not sure if you listened to the entire thing brother/sister, sheikh yassir addressed the issue of sexual abuse in the second part in an excellent way.
Jesus is the sinner too because he didn’t cast the stone. There are more proof Jesus was a sinner according to the Bible . Christians don’t want to talk about it .
@@HabibaAkhil-h6w sure , according to the Quran Jesus was pure & respected as a mighty prophet but a sinner according to the Bible . Having wet dreams is considered a sin & requires sin atonement & since Jesus was a man , he must have had wet dreams
With all due respect Dr. Qadhi, but your entire talk is in defense of what has recently transpired with the latest in a line of sexual perversions of "religious leaders." You said, "more responsibility" lies with some religious standing, can you please clarify how this perversion is demanding of a high moral consciousness? This is not even making it to a normal healthy human behavior or meets the standard ethical norms of any society. From your opening statement that no one is 'masoom' but the prophetm was indicative of what rhetoric will follow. Please call a thing by its correct name. By speaking this way you have exposed your self. How is it that when an "imaam" abuses impressionable young girls, the whole affair is swiftly covered and then he enters another mosque to do that yet again? Allow me to answer: it is because of people like you who are there to cover it up. God is watching. Do you actually believe that or is that rhetoric too? Because if you believed that, you wouldn't be defending this unconscionable act all over the muslim community and in news for all to see to further damage us as a community. Are we asking for "perfection" from the so called imaams here? This is what the undertone of your talk is. This is unacceptable.
Yes, Yasir Qadhi and other Imam's, remember your response in Irving. Did you speak out then? Or did you cover it up and fire the one person who did speak out? Don't cover things up. And yes, if you get to the point people want your autograph, yes, maybe you should decline. We don't need autographs, we need shepherds who will protect the flock. Are you speaking out because you found out about this case, or because the FBI found out and it is now too late for damage control?
I just want to know you have a personality type of a follower and being blinded by people you believe better than you. Be careful, you are very susceptible to be taken advantage of

Thank you for emphasizing the importance of children, youth, and adults having sincere role models who are doing their best to teach and follow the true teachings of the Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ with good intentions in an ethical, halaal, and lawful manner. It is greatly appreciated that EPIC masjid has such privacy rules that uphold our religious values of avoiding any type of privacy alone with the opposite gender as well as having guidelines placed for confidentiality that follow the moral values given to Muslims by Allah (swt).
Aameen to the duas

I would recommend you watch a Bollywood movie “Monsoon Wedding” till the end. It is a movie that addresses these subtle issues of societies.
Jabir ibn Abdullah reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever has faith in Allah and the Last Day, let him not be secluded with an unrelated woman without her guardian lest Satan be the third of them.”
Source: Musnad Aḥmad 14651
Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to Al-Albani
Educate women to be more informed and engaged with the world. Mosques should offer programs to help them. Encourage diverse interests beyond domestic roles. Action is needed, not just preaching.

18:52 Mashaallah… well explained
Well said

Nice class 🎉
@yasirqadhi … I think all imams themselves need renewal of their imamships. There shud b a system that determines an individual is mentally fit for being an imam and that shud be re-tested by the system on regular basis.
May Allah forgive our brother Yasir. He has also been between the teeth of the backbiters. I thought that he would have been more compassionate.
Well said sheikh, you take one incident and provide overall benefits for all.
Keep vulnerable women and revert sisters away from this celebrity sheikhs
Shaykh Yasir, I have a genuine question. Isn’t it better to not open the middle/gray door? At what point will secret marriages be problematic? 3,4,5, 10? At the workplace, we have trainings on sexual harassment and not having romantic relationships at the workplace, esp between bosses n employees. An imam should treat his community like a workplace. When young daughters or vulnerable women come for counseling, same power dynamic as a boss and employee. As a member of a community, how do we know what the intentions are of the imam. this IS spiritual abuse…
“The people are fallible, but the deen is infallible, the instruments are fallible but what is taught is infallible.”
“The fall of the preacher should not lead to what the preacher preached”
Poignantly stated.
Please keep reading the above duas.

Satan Said, "I will Surely Mislead them All," and so he Says that there is No Hell and No Devil
But God Said, "I will Surely Fill Hell with you, O Iblees, and those of them that Follow you All Together"
43:62, Qur'an
[So] never let Satan avert you. Indeed, he is a clear enemy to you -
2 Nephi 28:22, Torah
[For Satan] whispers in their ears and tells them there is no Hell; and he says to them, "I am no devil, for there is none."
36:62, Qur'an
And he had already led astray much of creation from among you, so did you not use reason?
15:39 - 40, Qur'an
[For Iblees] said, "My Lord, because You have made me err, I will surely make [disobedience] attractive to them on earth, and I will mislead them all, except Your chosen servants among them."
38:84, Qur'an
[So God] said, "The truth [is My oath], and the truth I say -
Isaiah 14:15, Torah
[That] you [O Lucifer] will be brought down to Hell, to the sides of the pit.
38:85, Qur'an
[And thus,] I will surely fill Hell with you, and those of them that follow you all together."
Celebrity sheikh criticism is somewhat valid , but as a young practicing muslim , i can tell you so so so many times , the miracle of a video popping up just exactly when i need it and its from nouman ali khan or omar suleiman or yasir qadhi , mufti menk
If you see the organized playlist of these celebrity scholars , you will see so much khayr in them

It is sexual abuse! Call it what it is!!!!
UA-cam has speech restrictions
@fluffymountains appreciate that but it's more about the fact that our community brushes this under the carpet. It needs to be said clearly, no excuses, and such devils ostracised from our midst.
Agreed. Too much tiptoeing around subject. That’s the problem. Messaging is confusing and should be more direct.
Satan is the human's ardent enemy:
[Quran 2:208] O you who believe, you shall embrace total submission; do not follow the steps of Satan, for he is your most ardent enemy.
Some of the things they do include:
Teaching sorcery to humans
Instigating their friends to argue with the faithful
Making evil suggestions to humans and jinn
Secretly listening to the angels' council
Allah is the judge Mind your busies and stop criticizing others. First change yourself before changing this world.
Some women also feel like they can only consult male scholars and imams. I don't understand that attitude especially as there are so many female alima

How do you write it this way?
Yasir Qadhi if imam Yasir secretly married your daughter without you knowing for a weekend how would you feel? Do not downplay secret marriages and their harm.
May Allah subhana wa ta'ala forgive you for jumping on this bandwagon!
Off the topic, what does the qiriat (closing prayer, thikir)mean at the end of the program. Is there a translation somewhere?
Surely ˹for˺ Muslim men and women, believing men and women,1 devout men and women, truthful men and women, patient men and women, humble men and women, charitable men and women, fasting men and women, men and women who guard their chastity, and men and women who remember Allah often-for ˹all of˺ them Allah has prepared forgiveness and a great reward.

Please take seriously the free mixing at ISNA and such gatherings. You have to admit that one is astonished to see girls and boys with outrageous dressing intermingling.
Ok but that wasn't the issue of that happened. The issue is the covering up and protecting the corrupt imam rather than caring about the victims

I miss out.. what happened? What incident?
Why are you calling it spiritual abuse? Call it what it is “sexual abuse “. Sorry disappointed. You’re doing damage control. You need to have a more open discussion and provide safety protocols and CHANGES to make sure this does not happen again. Plus a child was involved… you need to address the criminal behavior … why are you not discussing this directly openly
The main point here is that the person abused his ' religious' status to conduct sexual abuse. Not sure if you listened to the entire thing brother/sister, sheikh yassir addressed the issue of sexual abuse in the second part in an excellent way.
In the Bible,Jesus said “who is without sin among you, cast the first stone”.
Our sharia has accountability in it. For me, for you and for everyone whoever transgresses against another person.
Jesus is the sinner too because he didn’t cast the stone. There are more proof Jesus was a sinner according to the Bible . Christians don’t want to talk about it .
@ Jesus is not considered a sinner in the Quran. He was a prophet who was sent before our last prophet to beleive in ONE God .
@@HabibaAkhil-h6w sure , according to the Quran Jesus was pure & respected as a mighty prophet but a sinner according to the Bible . Having wet dreams is considered a sin & requires sin atonement & since Jesus was a man , he must have had wet dreams
@@zarabees2123Oh profit we know what’s in your heart you are hiding from us ? Al Azhab is causing ummah to panic 😱
Polygyny is not a gray area Yasir bhai!
What happened guys?
Has anyone considered that our brother could be innocent?
I just want to know you have a personality type of a follower and being blinded by people you believe better than you. Be careful, you are very susceptible to be taken advantage of
Can someone tell me what happened ?
Search Wissam Sharieff . Too horrific to explain.
What’s bigger than qiyamah that can happen
It’s an Islamic lecture , keep listening and take what’s good for you and your religion
Does anyone know what happened?
Who is the reciter at the end of the video?
