Got it for backpacking , so so light , right at 3oz , will clip onto my chest strap , want it for protection because of the sharp point and seems like it is simple and will drain well (open design) , all I would ever need this for everyday use is open up a dehydrated meal , pick out a thorn , pop a blister

Pro tech has some models that are not bad in price. 150-170 ish. Ya, that is a lot of money but not bad for a quality auto. The one he has goes for around 225 though.
Love my godson! Actually just ordered a Benchmade Osborne 9400 automatic. It's going to be my very first Benchmade. Just got done sharpening my kershaw livewire OTF tanto. I've beat the hell out of this knife and the magnacut refuses to disappoint. Was a little tough to sharpen.
I LOVE my rose gold Godson. I do wish they’d extend the S35VN steel to the Godson line, which I’m sure they’ll eventually do. Pro-Tech makes, in my opinion, the best, most well-made autos in the world. I carry a Sprint in my watch pocket as a companion to my Leatherman Free P4 absolutely every day, and I also have an SBR that the Godson kinda replaced for when I just need to carry a knife and no Leatherman, I hardly ever carry non Pro-Techs anymore despite having several really nice pocketknives. They’re just amazing.
great now I ordered the red devil version. it'll be my first protech. i've been eyeing this or the tr5 but when I handled the tr5 it feels like a pm2 with the blade to handle ratio. the godson feels like an ultratech to me so I ordered it.
It would seem that in the progression of `autos‘, the godson holds a somewhat of a important position! Now I’ve heard this before from collectors over here who have managed to get hold of one (and heavens knows how that happened inspite of the severe restrictions we have in place) but, I digress and have to agree that it looks amazing. Personally I don’t think that you should worry about a`minute‘ blade wobble in a auto because that’s just inherent in the design from what I gather, but so long as it’s not too much `give‘, there shouldn’t be too much to worry about. This knife is illegal in CA where you are right? It's kind of ironic that Pro Tech is based in CA and they make knives that they themselves supposedly can't carry around. It is beautiful in its simplicity. Love the quality and the jolting spring action.
@@rtvrn_to_monke A ccw doesn’t cover concealing dirks or daggers which is silly if I’m a ccw holder. Pretty sure an auto knife longer than 2” is not legal in Ca, especially in the city of LA. Not sure if unincorporated cities in La County it’s legal to carry.
The Godson's go for around 225 ish. They have some that cost more with more fancy options. And sometimes you can find a sale and get one for a bit less like 160-170. Blade HQ has one right now for 150 but its got a two tone red blade that is kind of ugly. Probably why its on sale lol. And they have the godfather swat which is the same thing with a 4 inch blade for 209.
Just got the godson and it's my first protech. The action is snappy but the fire button is very gritty and the overall action is nothing to brag about. Can anyone give there advise..think I got a lemon. Ive had a kershaw launch 1 and 10..boker..and a piranha. I figured I would ask cause everyone holds protech in such high regards as far as action goes
I know you made this comment years ago but I too had a gritty action. I ended up throwing a few drops Spec76 lubricant and worked the action over and over and over for about 30 minutes. Spec76 is a very special firearms lubricant that has plating technology that allows it to penetrate metal at a microscopic level and has the ability to make a base form layer overtop the metal pores. This helps work out impurities and particles, shavings, etc.... For me this has worked on all gritty knife actions, gritty triggers and is my all time favorite lubricant, especially for firearms.
Reminds me of the bench made spike.. it’s sad all these old bad ass knives are being discontinued. I bought this cause it’s the closest to that. Can’t wait for it to come .
You don't see the attraction of them, or the usefulness of them? The attraction of it is it is a switch blade and some poeple think they are fun and cool. Useful? Not really to be honest, especially with that blade. You can get a more useful knife for less money in a flipper. The flipper will still open with one hand probably just as fast or faster and has less parts and no springs to fail. And I certainly wouldn't want to carry one for a tactical knife or into combat. I am shocked they issue them to be honest. However I own many knives that serve different purposes, some I just think are cool. I will probably own a pro tech in the near future, or two. And that one or the godfather which a bit larger will probably be one of them. For no other reason than I want a quality auto. The way I look at it is a .380 Hi Point pistol will go bang and kill someone. They are not has horrible as people make them out to be. Doesn't mean I want one though lol.
Agreed. I also don’t understand why anyone owns a stove or oven. How lazy can one get? It’s just more parts to go bad. Just use a fireplace for god sake!

You can own them. Depends on your county. I have a ccw and carry a god father.
California can say something is illegal, but the county can say it’s not.
